ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

The end of summer brought a 13 percent decline in home sales in the Roanoke Valley. Sales contracts were written on 319 houses in September, down from 367 in August but down only 1.8 percent from 325 sales in September 1994, according to the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors.

On average, buyers paid 3.2 percent less than the asking price. Properties spent an average of 90.4 days on the market. There were 1,959 homes for sale at the end of September.
