RADFORD - There will be a barbecue lunch at the Radford Fire Department Sunday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fire department is located at 1500 Wadsworth St.
The lunch menu includes barbecue, cole slaw and chips for $3.50. Bar-b-que also will be sold by the pound for $5.

Open house Sunday
BLACKSBURG - The Blacksburg Fire Department will have its annual open house Sunday, Oct. 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Station No. 2 on Prices Fork Road.
Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 8-14. This year's theme is "Watch what you heat! Prevent home fires." Cooking is now the leading cause of home fires.
