After the words "not guilty" came from the television, the calm in the customer lounge of First Team Auto Mall in Roanoke was broken by a scream.
"Wooooo!" shouted parts department employee Jason Doolan, thrusting both fists in the air.
"That's all I needed to hear," he said before he headed back to work.
Several co-workers who stepped into the lounge to hear the verdicts agreed with Doolan that the jury did the right thing.
"Mark Fuhrman tried to frame him," because Fuhrman is a racist, said Bob Jones, a mechanic. "It didn't work."
Salesman Kent Thompson, who had been watching in another part of the building, pressed his lips together and seemed troubled.
"It's hard to see with that much evidence how they came up with a reasonable doubt," Thompson said.
Sales manager Johnny Vest said that, like it or not, O.J. Simpson is now "more of a celebrity."
"He'll be back on the satellite," Vest said.
