IN SERVICE

PETTY OFFICER 1ST CLASS FRANK M. GISINER, stepson of Gary J. Nimen of Troutville, has returned from a six-month deployment in the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas aboard the destroyer USS John Rodgers.

Gisiner is a 1982 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School.

During the deployment, Gisiner served in the Adriatic Sea helping to enforce the international sanctions against Bosnia-Herzegovinia.

In February, the ship was awarded the Battle Efficiency Award for the crew's outstanding performance in a wide-range of mission areas.

PVT. MARK A. BURNS, son of Frank M. and Linda Burns of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Burns is a 1994 graduate of Cave Spring High School.

AIRMAN MICHELLE A. GREENE, graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Greene is the daughter of Johnny H. and Antoinette W. Greene of Roanoke and a 1994 graduate of Northside High School.
