BEARS CRUNCH COUNCIL

Bland County dominated both sides of the ball in a 47-0 thrashing of Council High School.

The story of the game was a sparkling defensive effort by the Bears (4-1) who held the Cobras (0-5) to 63 yards of total offense. The Cobras leading rusher was Larry Barton who had 3 yards on 10 carries.

The Bears had 156 yards of rushing in the first half and tallied 337 yards offense for the game. They were led by Todd Morehead who rushed for 111 yards on seven carries. Morehead racked up 210 all-purpose yards, including a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown. Quarterback John Newberry threw three times, completing them all, for 97 yards and one touchdown.
