BUSINESSMAN BUYS ACADEMY

Augusta Military Academy has been sold, ending efforts to reopen it.

The academy closed in 1984 because of financial difficulties, was founded in 1858 and was the state's oldest military academy.

Stuarts Draft businessman Kennard W. Campbell bought the school Friday at a court-ordered auction. He said he had no plans for property but it ``won't be a school.''
