DEEDS, Joshua Hugh, Jr., 61, of Roanoke, died Friday, October 6, 1995. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Little Deeds; son and daughter-in-law, David and Becky Deeds; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Billy Whitt, Tammy and Randy Thomasson, Julie and Tim Wright, Cathy Briggs; grandsons, Andrew Deeds, Donnie Deeds, Kristopher Whitt, Patrick Wright, Zachary Briggs; granddaughters, Amber Thomasson, Kendall Deeds. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Jeters Chapel Cemetery by the Rev. Kenneth Gray. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Sunday or on Monday at the Lotz Vinton Chapel.

BAILEY, Sarah, 89, of Pembroke, died Friday afternoon, October 6, 1995, in Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blacksburg, Va. Born in Giles Co., Va. on July 1, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Lydia Bailey and was the wife of the late Dan Bailey Sr. and the mother of the late Dan ``Duney"" Bailey Jr., Thomas Bailey and Bobby Gene Bailey. When she was able, she attended the Pembroke Church of God. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Collins, Pembroke, and Mary Bush, Logan, W. Va.; four sons, Robert Bailey and Chapman Bailey, both of Pembroke, Richard Bailey of Kentucky and Raymond Bailey, Princeton, W. Va.; forty-four grandchildren; and thirty-nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 9, 1995, at 2 p.m., in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at Pembroke, Va., with the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will be in the Fillinger Cemetery near Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home in Pe mbroke, Sunday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.

BUCHER, Roy E., 68, of Richmond, died Friday, October 6, 1995. He is survived by his wife, Phylis N. Bucher; three sons, Roy E. Bucher Jr., Roanoke, Richard Lee Bucher, Powhatan, David John Bucher; his daughter, Lisa Bucher Klagues; two stepsons, Mark Cardoza, Scottsdale Ariz., Wayne Cardoza, Virginia Beach; six grandchildren; a sister, Nellie B. Duke, and two brothers, David W. Bucher and Alvin M. Bucher (his twin), Newport News. His remains rest at the Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, Richmond, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First English Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Forest View Rescue Squad.

BURCH, Bertie Ellen McPeak, 88, of 112 Circle Drive, Dublin, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, October 6, 1995. She will be missed by all that loved her dearly. She was born on February 19, 1907, in Floyd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nevel Lee Burch; her parents, Green McPeak and Laura Phillips McPeak; two sisters, Martha Lindsey and Rowena Mae Alrich, and three grandsons, Tommy Steven Burch, David Darnell Burch and Mark Allen Burch. Surviving are five daughters and four sons-in-law, Mrs. Harry D. (Margaret) Anderson, Newbern, Mrs. Charles (Lula) Simmons, Pulaski, Mrs. Donald (Aldah) Wright, Maryland, Mrs. Edna B. Kidd, Dublin, Mrs. Jimmy (Joyce) Hurst, Newbern; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Ralph S. and Betty Burch, Roanoke, Bobby D. Burch, Maryland, David and Margarite Burch, Dublin, Rick A. Burch, Pulaski; a sister, Emma Magee, Illinois; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. COVEY, Lillian Frances Barlow, 76, of 207 Pine Drive, Huddleston, Smith Mountain Lake, died Friday, October 6, 1995 in Franklin Health Care Center, Rocky Mount. She was born November 2, 1918 in Pulaski County, Va., daughter of the late Dee Barlow and Mattie Hogan Barlow. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Richard Arnold Covey, on March 26, 1995, and her granddaughter, Sonya L. Williams. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Larry Williams, Rocky Mount, Brenda and Douglas Wagner, Springfield; two granddaughters and grandson-in-law, Christie Williams, Ric hmond, Tanya and Steve Fralin, Goodview; brother-in-law, Francis Covey, and his wife Florence, Roanoke; sister-in-law, Ethel Barlow, Roanoke; and a special cousin, Tressa Brown, Cocoa Beach, Fla. HINES, William Branson, 88, of Radford, died Friday, October 6, 1995 at Wheatland Hills Retirement Center. He was owner and oper ator of Hines Electric of Radford. He was a member of Va. May Masonic Lodge #38 A.F. & A.M. of Radford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Bower Hines. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lyndal Likens, Radford and Mrs. Brenda O'Reilly, Blacksburg; two sons-in-law, Garland Likens, Radford and Patrick O'Reilly, Blacksburg; one sister, Mrs. Ihla Hight, Radford; four grandchildren, Kim Likens Dandro, Loree Likens, Sean O'Reilly and Shannon O'Reilly. HOLTMAN, Harry Marion, 80, of Salem, died Friday, October 6, 1995. He was a native of Aurora, Indiana and had been a Salem resident for over 46 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Salem. He had retired in 1980 as the Director of Operations for Kroger, where he worked for 38 years. He also served for ten years on the Board of Directors for the KEMBA Credit Union. Survivors include his wife, Mary I. Holtman; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Ellen Holtman, Salem, and James and Joyce Holtman, New Castle; grandchildren, Molly and Emily Holtman, Traci Hardesty, and Christopher Holtman; sister, Ruth H. West, Fort Mitchell, KY.; two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Holtman and Danielle Nicole Holtman; nieces, Maureen W. Williams and Beverly Lamb, also of Kentucky. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 1995, at the First United Methodist Church, Salem, with the Rev. Tom Joyce officiating. A private burial will be held Monday. LANE, Gene A., 43, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, October 2, 1995. He was the Distribution Warehouse Manager at Moore's Building Supply and was a former police officer in Aurora, Colo., for the previous 11 years. Surviving are two sons, Mark Lane, Erik Lane, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his fiancee, Lizbeth A. Susco, Roanoke. A memorial service will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Frank Feather officiating.

RALEIGH, Romeo Antonio Me'Gal, 44, of Greensboro, N.C., passed this life on earth and went to Heaven to continue his work with the Lord on Thursday, October 5, 1995. Romeo was born April 19, 1951. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Audrey and Luther Raleigh Jr. He is survived by two sisters, Juliet Pickard and Serena Raleigh; two brothers, Luther and Percelle Raleigh, all of Greensboro. Romeo's stay in Roanoke proved to be rewarding to all the ones that knew him. He attended the Loudon Avenue Christian Church, where he directed the Young Adult Choir. Romeo also directed the J. D. Holland Community Choir, the Roanoke Community Choir, Promise Land Gospel Choir and the Antonio Me'Gal Singers. His love for God's music a nd a man of fashion were only two of many things he will be remembered for. Praise service will be held Sunday, October 8, 1995, at 5 p.m. at Greater Christian Fellowship in Greensboro, N.C. Funeral 3 p.m. Monday, with family time from 2:30 to 3 p.m. at Persimmon Grove A.M.E. Church. She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Minnie S. Reynolds and her husband, Buck, of Roanoke; four nieces; three nephews; and many friends at C.V.T.C. WATSON, Clare Irvine, 49, of Route 3, Max Meadows, died Saturday, October 7, 1995 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde H. Watson Sr., sister, Katharine W. Bowman and nephew, Clyde Harold Watson III. She is survived by her mother, Katharine H. Watson, Max Meadows; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde H. Jr. and Carol B. Watson, Louis H. and Patsy Watson, Graham G. and Frances Watson, all of Max Meadows; eight nieces and nephews, Louis Watson Jr., Randolph Watson, Katherine W. WHITE, Merritt T., 79, of Radford, died Friday, October 6, 1995, at his home. Mr. White was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leviticus P. White. He was a native of Isle of Wight County, Va. He was retired, in 1978 after 37 years service, from the Allied Chemical Corporation. He was a charter member of the Powers Memorial Baptist Church, Sunday School director for 14 years, and a member and Chairman of the Board of Deacons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche H. White. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Burton, Radford; two sisters, Virginia Kennedy, Richmond, Lillie Taylor, Hopewell; two grandchildren, Jason Burton, Melissa Burton, both of Radford. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Powers Memorial Baptist Church in Hopewell with Rev. Malcom Hutton officiating. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Gardens, Enon, Va. WHITMIRE, Charles E., Jr., 73, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, October 7, 1995, in a local hospital. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Bryan William Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Alice W. Whitmire, Roanoke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Jay Thomas, Kim and Mike Simmons, Salem; a grandson, Todd Michael Simmons, Salem. Williams, Pennington Gap; two brothers, Carl Franklin Williams, Radford, Hobart Dean Williams, Pennington Gap; his mother-in-law, Louise Cressell, Parrott; a brother-in-law, James Lang, Parrott; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Linkous, Dublin, Lola Arias, Adelphia, Md.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
