BLUE RIDGE STOPS CELTICS

Blue Ridge School put the clamps on the usually potent Roanoke Catholic running game to defeat the Celtics 25-7 in a high school football game Saturday at Victory Stadium.

Blue Ridge (3-2) jumped out to an early lead on a 9-yard run by Marvin McLain and tacked on another touchdown when Roanoke Catholic (4-2) mishandled a snap on a punt attempt on the 3-yard line. Maurice Wilson scored on the next play. Wilson led Blue Ridge with 79 yards on 12 carries.

Roanoke Catholic's P.J. Moyer was held to a season-low 88 yards on 16 carries, 73 yards below his average.
