VIRGINIA BEACH - A police officer has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe from an undercover state trooper in exchange for dropping a drug case.
Police said they received a tip in August that LaBruce Grant, 30, had accepted money from at least one drug suspect. City police asked state police to investigate.
The investigation led to Grant's on-duty arrest last week when he allegedly took cash and drugs from an undercover state trooper instead of pursuing charges, police said.
Grant was charged with taking a bribe and possession of drugs, Thurston said. He was released on $5,000 bail and was suspended without pay.

3 students arrested for bomb threats
NEWPORT NEWS - Three students have been arrested for phoning in a string of bomb threats to city schools, police said.
Police spokesman Bobby Kipper said two of the arrests were made last week and one of those arrested is a 15-year-old.
The students could face a year in jail and a fine of as much as $2,500 if they are convicted of threatening to bomb a public building - a felony.
The students also could face expulsion or long-term suspensions, said Rosalynne D. Whitaker-Heck, a spokeswoman for Newport News public schools. A discipline committee would determine the punishment.
Crittenden Middle School and Warwick and Ferguson high schools have received bomb threats since the school year began, school and police officials said.
