"You get to know the families and know their situations," she said. "It's fun because, a lot of times you'll teach brothers and sisters."
Dudley, who teaches all subjects but is partial to math and science, is Cave Spring's lead teacher for V-Quest, a state program that promotes hands-on math, science and technology. She says it's a perfect fit, because of her belief in total teacher involvement in a child's learning.
"If we're going to do hands-on, then my hands are in it. If we're working with earthworms, then I'm working with them, too," she said.
"Ms. Dudley is a very nice teacher and she has a lot of knowledge." said her nominator. "It is very fun to learn with her."
Dudley, who lives in Bedford, is the mother of a 17-year-old daughter. She is choir director at her church and enjoys horseback riding, reading and music.
