3RD PERSON CHARGED IN ARMED ROBBERY

Town police have charged a third person with last month's armed robbery of a Virginia Tech student who was forced to make a withdrawal from an ATM machine and assaulted.

Kasheem Travis Martin, 19, of Liberty Lane in Blacksburg, was charged Friday with robbery, police said Monday.

Martin was arrested at the Police Department after detectives concluded Martin was the third suspect in the robbery and abduction early Sept. 26 in the Hethwood area.

Capt. Walter Mosby said the victim was a 19-year-old male who was robbed, forced to withdraw additional money at the National Bank of Blacksburg ATM machine at Hethwood, then assaulted and released several minutes later on nearby Merrimac Road.

Martin was released on a $3,500 bond.

Last month, police charged two others with participating in the robbery. A Radford man was charged with armed robbery and assault and battery. A Pulaski man was charged with armed robbery, abduction, using a firearm to commit a felony and assault and battery.
