FLOYD CO. STOPS TAYLOR, RADFORD

Floyd County held Timesland's third-leading scorer, Charlee Taylor, to two points Tuesday night and cruised to a Three Rivers District girls basketball victory, winning 65-28 in Radford.

The two-time defending Group A champions used their full-court pressure to cause 30 turnovers and limit the Bobcats (10-5, 2-1) to 17 first-half points. The Buffaloes (9-4 overall, 2-0 district) broke to a 17-6 first-quarter lead and used their depth to dominate the rest of the game.

Melissa Cantrell scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half and added 10 steals.

Martinsville 72, Magna Vista 70: Tiffany Watkins came off the bench to contribute nine rebounds and a tying shot with 34 seconds left as Martinsville edged the Warriors in a Piedmont District matchup in Martinsville.

The Bulldogs (11-3, 9-2) hit both ends of a one-and-one for the final margin. Erica Brandon picked up the slack for two teammates who sat with foul trouble by scoring 12 of her team-high 27 points in the fourth quarter.

Tanesia Kellam also had 27 for the Warriors (7-5, 8-6)

Shawsville 70, Giles 67, OT: The Spartans faced a 10-point deficit with 3:30 to play, before forcing overtime, but came up short against the Shawnees in the extra period in a Three Rivers District game in Pearisburg.

Bath County 73, Highland 31: Katie Hardbarger, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, had 17 points, 12 rebounds, three steals, three assists and four blocks and three other scorers hit double figures as the host Chargers (4-7, 4-2) had their biggest offensive output since at least 1989 in a Pioneer District rout of the Rams in Hot Springs.

Tammy Shifflett scored 10 for the Rams.

Parry McCluer 67, Craig County 27: In New Castle, the Fighting Blues (8-4, 5-1) dominated the Rockets (0-10, 0-5) in a Pioneer District matchup.

Craig County's 8-for-45 field-goal shooting severely hampered the Rockets, who were outscored 21-6 in the second quarter. In the second half, Parry McCluer continued its sharpshooting by scoring 37 points and holding Craig County to just 19.

The Parry McCluer trio of Avis Williams, Lindsey Coleman and Crystal Humphries combined for 48 points, Humphries leading the way with 17. Laura Nelson led the way for the Rockets with nine.

Tazewell 46, Blacksburg 39: The Bulldogs (7-5) held the Indians to 22 percent field-goal shooting en route to a low-scoring, non-district victory in Blacksburg.

The Indians (4-10) made only 15 of 66 field-goal attempts and did not have a scorer in double figures.

Staunton River 58, Nelson County 33: The Golden Eagles (7-5, 7-5) employed tight defense to keep the Governors (2-10, 2-10) off-balance in notching a Seminole District victory in Moneta.

Staunton River (7-5, 7-5) dominated inside with Erin Wolfe and Penny Forrest each scoring 10 points.

Bassett 70, Dan River 42: In Bassett, the Bengals scored 51 points in the middle two quarters, overcoming a sluggish first quarter, to blast the winless Wildcats in the Piedmont District.

Heather Miller led Bassett (7-6, 7-4) with 27 points, a dozen of which came in the second and third quarters

Galax 72, Bland 30: In Bland, the Maroon Tide held the Rockets to a pair of field goals in the first half as Galax dominated in the Mountain Empire District.

Tammy Cox, the district's second leading scorer at 15 points per game, led Galax with 17 points.

Pachess Umbarger led Bland (0-12, 0-4) with 12 points.

Liberty 49, Buckingham 10: Kellea Whorley had 18 points and the Minettes' defense allowed only three Knights to score in a Seminole District rout in Buckingham.

Marion 45, Christiansburg 32: Marion's second quarter defensive pressure helped the Scarlet Hurricane build a lead it would maintain throughout the non-district game in the Blue Demons' gymnasium.

Narrows 53, Rocky Gap 24: The Green Wave outscored the Eagles 16-2 in the third quarter to remain unbeaten in the Mountain Empire District victory in Rocky Gap.

Narrows got 14 points from Bud Lucas as it improved its record to 12-0 for the season. Michelle Sarver had 12 for the Eagles (1-10, 1-1).

Fieldale-Collinsville 65, Chatham 31: Senior T.J. Hayes dominated inside, scoring 21 points and grabbing 16 rebounds to lead Fieldale-Collinsville (11-3, 10-1) past Chatham (2-12, 0-11) in a Piedmont District game in Collinsville.

Hayes scored 15 of her points in the second half and eight in the fourth quarter as Fieldale-Collinsville pulled away.

Alleghany 80, Rockbridge County 46: The Mountaineers hit 71 percent of their shots from the field in the first quarter and cruised to a Blue Ridge District victory in Low Moor.

Katie Craft led Alleghany (9-5) with 26 points. Rockbridge County got a team-high 14 points from Tonya Clements.

Laurel Park 65, Gretna 47: Sophomore Brandy Martin scored a career-high 23 points as the Lancers (6-7, 6-5) rolled past the Hawks (3-11, 2-9) to a Piedmont District victory in Martinsville.
