BEDFORD CO. MAN GETS 5 YEARS FOR BEATING, BITING DAUGHTER

Shang Stanley, 21, was found guilty in Bedford County Circuit Court in July of one felony charge of child abuse.

Stanley was arrested in February after his 4-month-old daughter was taken to a hospital emergency room with internal bleeding, multiple bruises and bite marks.

Stanley originally told social-service officials that he didn't know how the child was injured and blamed it on other children living in the house, Commonwealth's Attorney Randy Krantz said.
