IN SCHOOL

TAYLOR JONES, son of Liz and Larry Jones of Roanoke, recently received a scholarship to attend the North Carolina School of the Arts' School of Design. Jones, a senior studying visual arts at the school, earned the $1,500 scholarship based on his portfolio.

JANE E. BISE, daughter of John and Judy Bise of Vinton, was named to the spring dean's list at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a 1992 graduate of Cave Spring High School.

KRISTIN WESTERMANN of Roanoke, a junior at Wittenberg University, was on a program to aid rural reconstruction in the Honduras.

She is the daughter of Dwayne and Kay Westermann of Roanoke.

MARY ELIZABETH BRYANT, a freshman at Radford University, was selected as a Radford Scholar.

Bryant will receive a full four-year scholarship worth $44,000 from the Radford University Foundation Inc.

Bryant's award is funded by Elbert J. and Evelyn H. Waldron of Shawsville.

Bryant is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School.
