The Salem Senior Citizen Center is sponsoring an escorted seven-day cruise to the Western Caribbean and New Orleans aboard the Carnival ship, MS Tropicale.
The ship will depart from Tampa. The itinerary includes stops at Grand Cayman, Cozumel/Playa del Carmen and New Orleans.
The group will depart from Roanoke on April 28, 1996, and will return on May 5. The cost is $1,018 per person, double occupancy.

Red Cross offers satellite classes
The American Red Cross will hold satellite cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid classes in Roanoke and Botetourt counties.
Adult CPR classes will be held at the Back Creek Rescue Squad Monday and Oct. 23 and at the Botetourt Family Medical Center in Daleville Saturday and Dec. 9.
Standard first aid classes will be held in November at the same locations.

Volunteers needed at Housecall Hospice
Housecall Hospice needs volunteers to serve in a variety of volunteer jobs working directly or indirectly with terminally ill patients.
Direct contact includes companionship, reading, letter writing, shopping or errands. Indirect contact includes office work and various projects.
Training is provided for all volunteers.

The Roanoke Valley Foster Care Association is accepting toys, food, clothing and personal hygiene items for foster children of all ages for the holidays.

Enter MHA's annual Festival of Trees
The Mental Health Association is accepting entries for its 13th annual Festival of Trees. Entries will be displayed Nov. 24 through Dec. 23 on the 21st floor of the First Union Tower.
The festival is a display of decorated evergreens entered by area business and community organizations.
Funds raised through the event support the Mental Health Association's education and advocacy efforts throughout the Roanoke Valley.

History museum needs volunteers
The Roanoke Valley History Museum is looking for people-oriented volunteers of all ages.
The volunteers will assist with educational programs, give guided group tours of the museum, serve as hosts/hostesses in the museum gallery or provide administrative assistance.
