CHRISTIANSBURG - The Christiansburg Rescue Squad will have its semiannual spaghetti dinner today from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Christiansburg High School.
Cost is $4 for adults, $2.50 for children.
Proceeds from the event will go toward the purchase of training equipment and supplies.
Luncheon Thursday
PULASKI - Pulaski Healthcare Center sponsors a spaghetti luncheon Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The luncheon will be in the dining room of the center.
The $3 lunch includes spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, dessert and drink. Proceeds from the sale will be used to buy Christmas presents for the residents.

NRCC gets grant
DUBLIN - The Virginia Community College System has awarded New River Community College a $4,000 grant to support professional development for faculty in selected occupational-technical programs.
The grant is provided through federal funds from the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act. The college will use the grant to support training for faculty in the use of programmable logic controllers. It also will be used to provide training in fiber optics, robot welding and automotive electrical systems technologies.
Y Open University
CHRISTIANSBURG - The Virginia Tech YMCA Open University will begin registering for their second fall session on Tuesday and continue through Oct. 20. Classes begin the week of Oct. 23 and run through Dec. 15.
Registration is Tuesday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., in University Mall, Blacksburg; Wednesday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Haymarket Theatre, Squires, Virginia Tech; Wednesday, noon-6 p.m., Christiansburg Public Library; and Thursday and Oct. 20, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., YMCA Office, 403 Washington St., Blacksburg.
