Roanoke got goals from Tori Erickson, Meredith Arnott and Lisa Franzino, the last coming at the 30:35 mark. Goalkeeper Kara Hedges registered the shutout, making two saves as Roanoke out shot the Generals 18-4.

Jessica Brooks scored three second-half goals as Meredith College pulled away from Hollins 7-0 in a non-conference women's soccer game in Hollins.
Meredith (3-6) led 1-0 at halftime before Brooks and Kristie Gwaltey, who scored two goals, broke open the game. Meredith took 20 shots. Hollins is 3-10.
World champion and Olympic silver medalist Lucinda Green will conduct a two-day riding clinic for equestrians on Oct. 15-16.
Event riders from Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland will be participating in the clinics, which will be held at the Simple Springs Farm in Floyd on Oct. 15 and at the White Oak Farm in Woolwine on Oct. 16.

King shot 73-71-144 to finish seven strokes behind winner Dennis Winters.
Mary Fry of Roanoke Country Club was tied for seventh at 145 and Chip Sullivan of Hanging Rock finished tied for 15th with a 149 total.
