ROANOKER BOWLS 300

When the Commercial League began its usual Thursday night of bowling at Hilltop Lanes on Williamson Road, no one figured Jeff Luther would roll his first perfect game.

As a 189-average bowler, Luther racked up his 300 game in the middle game for his unsponsored team. He finished the night with a 645 set for the self-titled Naugahyde Ramblers.

``[I was] keeping my mind off of the [perfect game], and just kept my mind on what I was doing,'' Luther said. ``I was just watching the football game and feeling pretty good.''

Luther, 25, has been bowling for 15 years, and credits his father, Don, for getting him started in the sport when he was 10.

``He even gave me this ball,'' Luther said.

He also thanked his wife, Ginger, and son, Austin, for supporting him during the game.
