The meeting is in the board room at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor, but it is not a hospital function, said group founder, Jolanda Pendleton of Clifton Forge.
Pendleton set up the group in July 1994 after she had the surgery at the Medical College of Virginia. Pendleton said the surgery was successful and that she was fully informed of its aftereffects. Some people don't know enough about it, though, and the support group is a good place to exchange experiences, she said.
Guest speaker for the meeting is Wanda Walton, clinic director of the Lewis-Gale Counseling Center in Salem.
The group will meet again on Nov. 13 at the same place.
