Seven Hollins College faculty authors will join the fight against hunger Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. in Share Our Strength's fourth annual Writer's Harvest: The National Reading.
Rita Ciresi, R.H.W. Dillard, Cathryn Hankla, Jeanne Larsen, Marilyn Moriarty, Eric Trethewey and Phillip Welch will read from their works at the college's Ballator Gallery in Moody Center. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for non-students. All funds raised will go to the Roanoke Area Food Bank. Call 362-6451.
Forensics lecture
The Roanoke College Chapter of Sigma Xi is bringing Dr. Doug Owsley, a forensic anthropologist, to the campus on Oct. 2. at 7:30 p.m. in Massengill Auditorium. Owsley, who works with the Museum of Natural History of the Smithsonian Institution, will speak about a case he is working on and will illustrate his points with a human skeleton. His previous cases involved Jeffrey Dahmer, and the Branch Dividians. Admission is free. Call 375-2282.
Alumnae reading
Hollins College alumnae Lee Smith, Elizabeth Seydel Morgan and Susie Mee will read from their works Nov. 9 on campus at 8:15 p.m. in the Green Drawing Room of Main Building. The event celebrates the publication of ``Downhome: An Anthology of Southern Women Writers.'' A reception/book signing will follow the reading. Admission is free.
