MAN KILLED, 3 OTHERS HURT IN CAR CRASH

A 29-year-old Roanoke man was killed in a car crash early Wednesday morning in the 3500 block of Shenandoah Avenue Northwest.

About 1:45, Thu Van Ma pulled from a driveway at that location and was hit by another car traveling west on Shenandoah Avenue. Ma was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other car, Mark H. Mullins, 29, of Roanoke was treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, police said. A nursing supervisor there said Wednesday that Mullins was not a patient.

Two passengers in Ma's car - Hau Thi Ma, 24, and Qua Van Ma, age unknown - were taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Hau Thi Ma was in satisfactory condition, and Qua Van Ma was in serious condition with a head injury in the neuro-trauma intensive care unit, according to a nursing supervisor.

Police were continuing to investigate factors that might have contributed to the accident.
