JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY has announced the names of Roanoke Valley students who received degrees during summer graduation ceremonies. They are: Phillip A. Cantrell of Salem, master of arts degree; Antonio E. Cupit, bachelor of science; Collen H. Foster, bachelor of science; Jessica G. Freeman, bachelor of science; Laura C. Nolan, bachelor of science; and David S. Schear, bachelor of music, all of Roanoke.

RADFORD UNIVERSITY has announced the names of Roanoke Valley students who received degrees during summer graduation ceremonies. They are: Tammi M. ELIZABETH BARTAM WAFLE of Roanoke recently graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor of arts degree.

PHILLIPPE RANDOLPH of Roanoke has been awarded a Minority Incentive Scholarship by East Tennessee State University for the 1995-96 academic year. Randolph is the son of Valerie Garrett and a graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

SARAH LOUANNE FLORY, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Randall K. Flory of Roanoke, will serve as a Gold Key tour guide for Randolph-Macon Woman's College during the 1995-96 academic year. Flory, a sophomore, is one of 41 students selected to give campus tours and correspond with and host prospective students. She graduated from Northside High School.

JOE KIRBY, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kirby III of Salem, has been named a Bittle Scholar at Roanoke College. Bittle scholars - named for David F. Brittle, the college's founder and president - must be ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school class and must have a combined score of 1,200 or above on the Scholastic Aptitude Test.

Kirby, a Salem High School graduate, will receive full tuition for the four years he's at the college as long as he maintains a 3.25 grade point average.
