SHERIFF PHIPPS' LETTER

It has been a pleasure to serve the people of Montgomery County for the past four years. I want to thank all of you for your cooperation and understanding during that time.

There has been quite a lot of confusion concerning the number of announced sheriff's candidates over the past several months. Of the four men who will be on the ballot in November, one is currently employed with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. He is Capt. O.P. Ramsey, who is in command of law enforcement and investigations.

Capt. Ramsey is a dedicated law enforcement officer who is committed to providing the citizens of this county the very best in public safety and crime prevention. He is fair and treats all people with the utmost respect regardless of their status in life. His credentials are excellent with an outstanding career spanning 27 years in the law enforcement field. Capt. Ramsey is very familiar with the operations of this office and there is no question that his experience in homicide investigations and other serious crimes are second to none in Southwest Virginia. He will work for all our citizens, striving always to make Montgomery County a safer place to live.

If you are concerned about maintaining high standards within this office, then please assist and support Capt. Ramsey on Nov. 7.

Ken Phipps
