ZONING HEARINGS ON SUPERVISORS' AGENDA

The public will have a chance to comment Monday on separate zoning cases that would open a piece of land in the middle of the Prices Fork community to commercial development and allow for a new park for recreational vehicles along the New River near McCoy.

The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will hold public hearings beginning at 7 p.m. Monday on the third floor of the county courthouse in downtown Christiansburg.

The hearings will include:

Larry N. Smith's application to rezone nearly 1 acre in Prices Fork from agricultural to general business status. The rezoning would allow Smith to sell or develop the land for commercial development. The site is at 4351 Prices Fork Road, some 500 feet west of the Prices Fork Historic District and just across the road from the intersection with Tucker Road and the A & J Quick Shop.

Gloria D. Scott's request for a special-use permit to operate a recreational-vehicle park on 3.5 acres along the New River. The site is at 2875 Big Falls Road, just north of the intersection with Norris Run Road (Virginia 708). The area is just downstream from the popular, and crowded, tubing, swimming and fishing area at McCoy Falls.
