Slusser scored on runs of 57, 4 and 4 yards for the Spartans (7-0), who opened a 16-0 lead and never looked back. Slusser also threw for a touchdown, a 39-yard strike to Anthony Myers - Giles' only completion of the game - and accounted for 26 of the Spartans' points.
Bland County (5-2) scored in the first quarter when Chris Beamon recovered a Jon Newberry fumble in the end zone.
The Bears got 154 yards rushing on 13 carries from Todd Morehead, including a 68-yarder to set up the touchdown, as Bland County racked up 239 rushing yards, but could not stop the rushing attack of Timesland's No.1 team, which amassed 302 yards rushing.
Radford 34, Shawsville 7: The Bobcats didn't chew up much yardage, but they were efficient in downing the Shawnees in a Three Rivers District matchup in Radford.
The Bobcats got two rushing touchdowns from Larnell Lewis. Two other Radford runners, Eddie Waldron and Derrick Chapman, amassed 69 yards of rushing and two touchdowns on six carries. Tremond Hale completed two of four passes for 50 yards and a touchdown for the Bobcats (5-2, 1-1).
Radford came up with 34 points on 191 yards of total offense.
Chris Graham threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Jett Marrs in the fourth quarter to give the Shawnees (2-5, 1-2) their only score.
Auburn 24, Narrows 8: David Hughes ran for three touchdowns as the Eagles locked up their first .500 season since the mid-1980s with a victory over the Green Wave in Narrows.
Hughes ran 60 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter and Jason Phipps hit Kenny Wojciechowski with a two-point conversion pass to tie the score.
The Green Wave (2-5) had taken an 8-0 lead on an 11-yard pass from Keith Morris to David Turner and Jerry Shrader's conversion pass.
Hughes put Auburn (5-3) up for good with a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter. He added a 34-yard scoring run late in the game.
Morris had 100 yards rushing for the Green Wave.
Rural Retreat 26, PH-Glade Spring 21: Ronnie Six ran over the Rebels for more than 200 yards and scored two touchdowns as Rural Retreat defeated the visitors in a Hogoheegee District game.
Six, a fullback, carried 14 times for the Indians (5-2, 4-1), gaining 235 yards. This was the second consecutive week he has ran for 200-plus yards. He scored on runs of 80 and 74 yards.
C.J. Patton also found the end zone twice for Rural Retreat, on runs of 5 and 4 yards.
PH-Glade Spring (4-3, 4-2) was led by Jason Boswell's two touchdowns, on dashes of 14 and 12 yards.
Rockbridge County 28, Alleghany 6: It took Jimmy Emore nearly four quarters, but he finally made the difference in the Wildcats' Blue Ridge District victory over the Mountaineers in Low Moor.
The Rockbridge County running back scored two touchdowns and ran for a two-point conversion as the Wildcats (5-2, 2-1) snapped a 6-6 tie. For the night, Emore gained 180 yards on 28 carries and had 41 in the fourth quarter as he split them up fairly evenly for the game.
Alleghany (0-7, 0-3) was led by Oliver Jordan, with 174 yards on 21 carries. He scored on a 75-yard run in the first quarter to give the Mountaineers a brief 6-0 lead. Greg Stubblefield went over on a 1-yard run to leave the teams knotted at intermission.
Covington 36, Craig County 22: The Cougars built an early lead and coasted to a Pioneer District victory over the Rockets in New Castle.
Covington (4-3, 1-1) led 36-3 heading into the fourth quarter. The Cougars were led by Tom Luckett, who ran for 61 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns. Mike Barber threw for 76 yards on 7-for-10 passing with one touchdown.
Jason Blankenship was the leading rusher for Craig County, netting 67 yards on 12 carries,
The Rockets (0-7, 0-4) gained a total of 205 yards, 141 on the ground. Covington gained 224 yards, 148 on the ground.
Grundy 42, Grayson County 14: Tommy Crigger threw for four touchdowns, ran for two and completed a pair of conversion passes as the Golden Wave rolled over the Blue Devils in a non-district game in Grundy.
Crigger completed 16 of 24 passes for 202 yards to lead the Golden Wave (6-1).
Quarterback Chad Shaffner led Grayson County (3-4) with touchdown runs of 15 yards and 1 yard. He finished with 74 yards on the ground.
Amherst County 74, Staunton River 0: The Lancers ran away with their Seminole District game against the Golden Eagles in Moneta
Amherst County (6-1, 6-1) did not attempt a pass in rolling up 462 yards on the ground. Maurice Clark led the Lancers with 110 yards and four touchdowns on 10 carries. Cam Jackson also broke into the 100-yard rushing column with 110 on 10 carries.
T.J. Cashwell ran for 87 yards, ran back two kickoffs for touchdowns and scored four two-point conversions for Amherst.
Staunton River (3-4, 3-4) could only muster 68 yards of total offense in the loss.
Patrick County 34, Bassett 7: The Cougars rolled up 261 yards rushing and held the Bengals to 184 yards of total offense en route to the easy Piedmont District victory in Stuart.
Patrick County (5-2, 4-2) was led by quarterback Christian Batchelor, who rushed for 55 yards on nine carries, threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Zach Kreager and returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown.
David Morrison led the Cougars with 87 yards on nine carries. Junior Penn added 56 yards on 12 carries, including a touchdown.
Bassett (3-4, 3-3) scored its only touchdown in the third quarter on a 2-yard touchdown run by Carl Watkins, who finished with 68 yards on 19 carries.
