Eric Taylor, 20, of Blacksburg died at the scene, according to a report filed by Trooper C.L. Mumpower.
Taylor's passenger, a male from out of state, also died. Police withheld his identity pending notification of his family.
The third victim, Joel Brian Roop, 18, of Dublin died late Saturday afternoon at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Taylor, who was a junior at Radford University, worked as a customer support representative for Tele-Work Inc. of Blacksburg, according to his family.
Saturday's accident occurred at 2:25 when a red Camaro, driven by Roop, crossed double yellow lines to pass another car and collided with Taylor's compact car head-on at the intersection of Virginia 812 (Centerville Circle), police said.
Two other people were taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police released no names or extent of injuries on those victims. No other details on the accident were available Saturday.
The deaths added to the toll from wrecks on Virginia 114 (Peppers Ferry Road), the 10-mile artery between the Radford area and Christiansburg.
Residents and local officials have said for years that the heavily used road is dangerous and needs to be widened.
Saturday's wreck occurred just a few hundred yards east of where the two-lane road widens to four lanes.
