BAKER, Stuart Daniel, 85, of 1200 North Nash Street, Arlington, and formerly of Pleasant Valley, died Friday, October 20, 1995, in Arlington Hospital after a brief illness. A son of the late Courtney Stuart and Oda Real Rodeffer Baker, he was born on August 31, 1910, near Mt. Crawford in Rockingham County. He was graduated from Bridgewater High School and attended Bridgewater College. Stuart had been a district manager of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co., and part owner and worked in L&B Sweet Shop in Bridgewater. He was territory supervisor with International Harvester Co. and worked for J. O. Stickley and Son. He also worked for J. I. Case Co. for 32 years in different sales positions on the East Coast, and was sales manager for the company in Washington, D.C. He co-founded Baker Brothers Inc. in 1944 and owned Seawright Springs in Mt. Sidney. Mr. Baker was active in numerous organizations. Among them were Business and Defense Service Administration Executive Reserve, Metropolitan Washington Board of Trade, Washington Export Council, ACME (Agricultural, Construction and Mining Equipment), S.A.M.E. (Sales and Marketing Executives International), Defense Supply Association, National Press Club, and a life member of Rotary Internationa, with activities in Harrisonburg, Bridgewater and Washington, D.C. He had been on the board of directors of Virginia Easter Seal Society, and had been director of Society of Virginia, where he served as president for two years. He was a lifetime member of Mill Creek Church of the Brethren of Port Republic. He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Warren (``Jack"") and Alice Baker, Roanoke, L. H. and Sandra Baker, Staunton, and a number of nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, all of whose lives he touched. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mill Creek Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Thomas Geiman and the Rev. David Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Members of the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home, and at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. BROMFIELD, Vinie Mildred, 73, of Cloverdale, died Saturday, October 21, 1995. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Brenda Bromfield, Roanoke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Bernie Sowers, New Castle, Nancy and John Oyler, Cloverdale; two sisters, Lena Belle Stanley, Radford, Venie Dalton, Troutville; 13 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 23, 1995, at 11 a.m. at the Rader Troutville Chapel, with the Rev. John Oyler and the Rev. Mike Hogan officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. BROWN, David Spangler, 87, of Radford, passed away Saturday, October 21, 1995, at Heritage Hall Nursing Facility in Blacksburg. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Radford. Mr. Brown was a retired supervisor for the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Wiley Brown; one daughter, Mrs. Pat Harmon of Christiansburg; one sister, Mrs. Mary Ratcliff of Bluefield, W.Va.; four brothers, Luther Brown, Harold Brown and Archie Brown, all of Tazewell, and Mack Brown of Burkes Garden; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 23, 1995, at Central United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Warren Wattenbarger and Pastor Jerry Gibson officiating. BROWN, Johnny Ferrell, 66, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, October 20, 1995. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, and was retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad. Survivors include his wife, Marlene A. Brown; his mother, James Ella B. Jones; four sons, Johnny R. (Cynthia) Brown, Gus Williams, Ronnie Divers and Kenneth Brown, all of Roanoke; three daughters, Melanie A. Brown, Angela Fountain and Joann Williams, all of Roanoke; one brother, William M. JOHNSON, Alesha Ann, 21, of Roanoke, died Thursday, October 19, 1995. She was a 1992 graduate of William Fleming High School and was preceded in death by a sister, Amanda L. Johnson. KIDD, Micki Alingh, 78, of Roanoke, died Saturday, October 21, 1995. She was the widow of Rupert Milton Kidd and was a retiree of the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board in Richmond. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chesterfield County. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jane Alingh Kidd Lawson and Robert C. Lawson Jr.; a granddaughter, Sarah Catherine Lawson; grandson, Robert Andrew Lawson, all of Roanoke; a sister-in-law, LaVerne Harris Kidd, Augusta, Ga.; four nephews, Waverly Harris Kidd, Roswell, Ga., Sanford Maxey Kidd, Anderson, S.C., Rev. LAUGHLIN, Edith Winona, 76, of Bedford, passed away Saturday, October 21, 1995, in Bedford Memorial Hospital. Born in Bedford County on April 24, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Roy Mayhew and Janie Fifer Mayhew. She was a housewife and bookkeeper, a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and past noble grand of Peaks of Otter Rebekah Lodge #32. She is survived by her husband, Warren G. Laughlin; two daughters, Sharon Sue Laughlin, Bedford, Faye L. Hurst, Roanoke; a son, Dan E. Laughlin, Bedford; two sisters, Phyllis Witt, Bedford, Earnestine Mayhew, Jacksonville, N.C., and a granddaughter, Allison Hurst, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 23, 1995, from Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by Dr. Carl Douglass and the Rev. LEE, Louvenia Jane Elvin, 86, of Botetourt County, passed away Friday, October 20,1995 at her residence. Mrs. Lee was a long-time and dedicated member of the Daleville Church of the Brethren and had attended National Business College and was active in the American Cancer Society and many other community activities. She was a beloved member of the community and for years, she provided roses to relatives and frie nds from her garden. She was vice-president and secretary for Commercial Communications Company and was preceded in death by her husband, Philip C. Lee Sr. Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Philip Calvin Lee Jr., David C. Lee, both of Daleville, William George Elvin and Helen A. Lee, Staten Island, N. Y.; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Elvin and Dr. Andrew Jackson Bridgewater; grandsons, William C. Lee and his wife, Jennifer, Manhatten, N.Y., Richard E. Lee, Staten Island, N.Y., Fredrick Lee of Maryland; a great-granddaughter, Sara-Jane Lee; two nephews, William Turner, Tom Elvin and his wife, Aleta. NORFLEET, Gwendolyn Weeks, 79, of Lynchburg, died suddenly Wednesday, September 27, 1995, at her home. Born November 17, 1915, in Floyd Co., she was the daughter of the late Granville D. Weeks and Maude Dickerson Weeks. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Christiansburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Norfleet; a grandson, Thomas Norfleet Brickhouse. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Norfleet Turns and her husband, William L. Turns III, Richmond, Elizabeth Norfleet Brickhouse and her husband, Robert C. SCOTT, Donald R., 67, formerly of Buena Vista, died Saturday, October 20, 1995, in Camelot Hall Nursing Home in Salem. Born on October 16, 1928, in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Hayden and Carrie Staton Scott. TERRY, Herbert Lee Sr., 48, of 6546 Hickman Cemetery Road, Radford, passed away Friday, October 20, 1995 in the Roanoke Community Hospital. Born January 22, 1947 in Lindside, W.Va., he was the son of the late Lee Dexter Terry and Virdie Virginia Christian Terry. He was an employee of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant and Alliantechsytems. He was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin Ray Terry. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. Robert Owens officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va. Visiting will be anytime Monday after 1 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bob White Blvd., Pulaski or anytime at the home, Route #2 (Hickman Cemetery Road), Radford, Va. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, is handling arrangements.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 23, 1995 at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Arsnoe, with burial in Sunset Cemetery.
