MAROON TIDE ROLLS FLOYD

Rodney Sawyers and Justin Lineberry scored two touchdowns apiece as Galax won its first game under head coach Kim Gillespie, beating Floyd County 32-6 in a non-district game on Friday night.

Sawyers, who rushed 13 times for 123 yards, scored on a 49-yard interception return and on a 17-yard run. Lineberry carried just three times for 10 yards, scoring on runs of 4 and 1 yard.

Jimmy Russell returned a fumble 35 yards to give the Maroon Tide (1-6) a 20-6 advantage at the half.

Tony Erchull scored on a 1-yard run for the Buffaloes' (0-7) sole score. Matt Bishop led Floyd County with 106 yards on 16 carries.
