CELEBRATIONS - WEDDINGS II

Roed-Johnston

Angel Christine Johnston and William Clyde Roed (Joe) were married on October 16, 1995 at Centennial Christian Church in McCoy, Virginia with Reverend Gordan Lee officiating. The reception followed in the fellowship hall.

Angel was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Maid of honor was Reecie VanHoozier, best friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Sherri Collins, Michelle Clark, Stephanie Clark, and Jan Tefft. The best man was Mike Roed, brother of the groom. Ushers were Bobby Davis, Barry Elliott, Matthew Johnston, and Adam Roed. The flowergirl was Caitlyn Hutchison and ringbearer was Cameron Patton. The guestbook was attended by Vanessa McCoy and Emily Oliver. Special music was provided by Barbara Crockett. Jeannie Brewer was the pianist and the wedding director was Linda Bland.

Angel is the daughter of Ralph and Kathy Johnston of McCoy. Currently, she is attending Coastal Carolina College in Jacksonville, N.C. and works for Carobell Home for Children.

Joe is a son of Beverly Roed and the late Robert Dale Roed of Jacksonville, N.C. He is employed with Jarman Insulation in Jacksonville, N.C.

Angel and Joe are living in Jacksonville, N.C. following a trip to Walt Disney World and the Bahamas.

The newlyweds would like to express their sincere appreciation to Elizabeth Albert, Phyllis Martin, Ruthann McCoy, June McCoy, Vanessa McCoy and Connie Lee for all the hard work they contributed in making their wedding day special.

Scales-Floyd

Rhonda Garland Floyd and William Davis Scales were married September 29, 1995, in Lakewood Evangelical Methodist Church in Ringgold, Va. The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Jimmy L. Burks, former Pastor of First Evangelical Methodist Church in Salem, Va.

Rhonda is the daughter of the late Jean C. Garland and Thomas M. Garland, Sr.

William is the son of Nancy Scales and the late Raleigh H. Scales of Mt. Airy, N. C.

After a honeymoon in Myrtle Beach, S. C., Rhonda and William are residing in Franklin County.

Schiefelbein-Wolford

Lara Anne Wolford, daughter of Drs. Anne and John Wolford, and William Ernest Schiefelbein, son of William C. and Terrie Schiefelbein, were married October 21, 1995.

Scott-Collier

Leslie Anne Collier and James David Scott were married August 12, 1995 at 12 Noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Blacksburg, by Father Paul Gallagher. Norbert Screbant of Downers Grove, Il, uncle & Godfather of the bride walked her down the aisle. A reception followed at Donaldson Brown at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg. Maid of honor was Julie Signer of Downers Grove, Il, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Cheryl Collier of Blacksburg, sister of the bride, Michele Pattie of Blacksburg and Mika Holiday of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, friends of the bride & groom. Best man was Paul Johnson of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, friend of the bride & groom. Groomsmen were Matt Scott of Mansfield, Ma., brother of the groom, Scott Daley of Blacksburg and Will Stormont of Blacksburg, friends of the bride & groom. Organist was Lael Zalazny of Blacksburg, soloist was Kathy Adamo of Blacksburg. The bride wore a Galina raw silk gown with beads and lace. She carried a bouquet of multi-colored roses and purple delphinium.

The bride is a daughter of Mrs Karen M. Collier of Blacksburg and the late Earl R. Collier, Jr. She is a graduate of Blacksburg High School (1987) and Radford University with a B.S. in Foods & Nutrition & Dietetics. She is currently working on a second degree in Foods & Nutrition, Food Service Mgmt. at Radford University. She is a bookbuyer for University Volume Two Bookstore, Blacksburg.

The groom is a son of L. David Scott of Mansfield, Ma. and the late Kathy Lee Davis of Blacksburg. He is a graduate of Mansfield High School (1986, and is a manager for Famous BBQ Restaurant in Blacksburg. Following a honeymoon trip to North Carolina's Outer Banks and Mountain Lake, the couple will reside in Blacksburg.

Scott-Lloyd

Gwendolyn Ann Lloyd and Jonathan Glenn Scott were united in marriage on Saturday, October 21, 1995, at six o'clock in the evening, at Moneta Baptist Church in Moneta, Va. The Reverend Michael G. Williams performed the double-ring, candlelight ceremony. A reception was held at the Bedford Moose Lodge with entertainment provided by Whitehorse.

The bride is the daughter of Mac and JoAnn Lloyd of Moneta, Va. The bride's grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Lloyd of Moneta, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Mayhew of Moneta, Va. The bridegroom is the son of Glenda W. Scott of Fieldale, Va. and Rodger and Jacqueline Scott of Ridgeway, Va. The groom's grandmother is Mrs. Pauline Wigginton of Ridgeway, Va. The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

The bride wore a European styled white satin gown by Bonny, with a V-neckline and bishop sleeves adorned with pearled Lyon lace. The skirt features a large pearl motif with a fully decorated cathedral train. She carried a cascading bouquet of real flowers consisting of white and pink bridal roses, larkspur, alstromeria, Queen Ann lace and Italian ruscus.

Maid of honor was Rebecca Stiff, best friend of the bride. Matron of honor was Stephanie Henderson, sister of the groom. Bridal attendants were Amy Bates, Crystal Lloyd, and Crystal Mayhew, all cousins of the bride. Flowergirl was Hattie Sperberg, cousin of the bride.

Rodger Scott served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were Eddie Henderson, brother-in-law of the groom, Tony Lloyd, brother of the bride, Phillip Scott, brother of the groom, and Blake Thomas, friend of the groom. Ringbearer was Bradley Tuck, cousin of the bride.

A program of music was provided by Edgar Tuck, pianist, and Holly Sweet and Johnny Lanier, soloists. Guestbook hostesses were Tina Bullin and Drema Sperberg, aunts of the bride. Gloria Tuck was the wedding director; Arlene Meador was the caterer; Ed Berry was the photographer; and floral designs were by Just Friends.

The bride is a graduate of Staunton River High School and attended Virginia Western Community College. She is employed by First Union Bank in Bassett, Va.

The groom is a graduate of Magna Vista High School and attended Radford University. He is self-employed.

After a honeymoon trip to Daytona Beach, Fla., the couple will reside in Fieldale, Va.

Selig-Cook

Jennifer Angela Cook and Michael John Selig were married September 30, 1995, at ten o'clock in the morning at St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church.

The Reverend James M. Fosnot officiated, assisted by Rabbi Richard A. Zionts. Readings were given by Susan Poindexter of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, friend of the bride, and by Leah Elenzweig of Claremont, California, sister of the bridegroom.

A reception followed at the Hotel Roanoke.

The bride was given in marriage and escorted by her parents. Meredith Cook of Roanoke, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor.

Brides maids were Lori Hayes of Fairfax, Vicki Housman of Charlotte, North Carolina, Cindy Snedegar of Arlington, friends of the bride; and Amber Selig of Gainesville, Florida, sister of the groom.

John S. Selig served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were Shane Cash of Sterling, Keith Pervis of Alexandria, and Lawrence Williams of Washington, D.C., friends of the groom; and Neil Elenzweig of Claremont, California, brother-in-law of the groom; and Joseph Solomon of Little Rock, Arkansas, uncle of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Cook of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and Virginia Tech. She is employed by Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in Fairfax.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard A. Zionts of Altoona, Pennsylvania, and Mr. and Mrs. John S. Selig of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is a graduate of Pulaski Academy in Little Rock and attended George Mason University in Fairfax. He received a Bachelor of Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, and is Chef of the Potomas Grille at Landsdowne Resort in Leesburg.

Following a wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple will reside in Arlington.

Smith-Bostic

The marriage of Michelle Lynn Bostic, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil C. Bostic of Paint Bank, Virginia, to James Willie Smith, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Smith, Sr., of Mechanicsville, Virginia, took place September 23, 1995, at Providence United Methodist Church of Richmond. The Reverend Ralph B. Goodman officiated the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. Oswald Houston Bostic of Paint Bank, Virginia, and Mrs. Anna Moore of Salem, Virginia. The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Anna Mae Bell of Maxton, North Carolina.

Miss Nichole Bostic, cousin of the bride, of New Castle, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Beverly Myers, cousin of the bride, of New Castle, and Miss Aliza Danner, of Fredericksburg, friend of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Miss Kristy Martin and Miss Lori Martin, friends of the bride, both of Canton, Okla. Miss Andrea Fisher, daughter of Mrs. Michele Cady Cave, of Roanoke, was flowergirl.

Mr. James W. Smith, Sr., was his son's best man. Groomsmen were Mr. David Clark, of Mechanicsville, Mr. Robert Capocelli, of Midlothian, Mr. John Burch, of Midlothian, friends of the groom, and Mr. Matthew Bostic, brother of the bride. Mr. Brandon Woods, of Maxton, N.C., cousin of the groom, was ringbearer.

Given in marriage by her father and grandfather, the bride wore a Victorian style satin re-embroidered schiffli lace gown with pearls to define the scalloped portrait neckline, long sleeves, double bows at back waist, and the cut out cathedral length train. She carried a cascading bouquet of lilies and heather accented with a hand crocheted doily made by the late Mrs. Petrous Bostic, grandmother of the bride.

Miss Melissa Drummond of New Castle, performed ceremony scripture reading. Organist, Mr. Robert R. Ford, Jr., provided ceremony music. Guestbook attendants were Mrs. Marta Bostic and Mrs. Debbie Myers, aunts of the bride, both of New Castle. Program directors were Jennifer Pardue, cousin of the bride of Roanoke, and Amber Woods, cousin of the groom of Maxton. Wedding favors were handed out by Lindsey Roseberry and Rochelle Roseberry.

Special thanks to Mrs. Sue Huffman, mistress of ceremonies and florist.

A dinner reception was held at the Sheraton Inn Park South.

After a honeymoon in the Caribbean, the couple will reside in Midlothian, Virginia.

Timberlake-Pearson

Sophie Lynn Pearson and Roger J. Timberlake were married October 7, 1995, in Blacksburg United Methodist Church, Blacksburg, Va. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Fred Carper, Jr. The reception was held at The Farmhouse.

The matron of honor was Mrs. Gina Dunnavant, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Ms. Becky Jones, cousin of the bride, and Ms. Lacy Henry, friend of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Miss Stephanie Pearson and flower girl was Miss Sydney Pearson, both cousins of the bride.

The best man was Mr. Jack Timberlake, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Mr. Todd Timberlake, brother of the groom, Mr. Eddie Pearson, brother of the bride, Mr. Jimmy Barbee, brother-in-law of the groom, and Mr. Wally Parks, cousin of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Pearson of Pearisburg, Va. She is a graduate of Giles High School and James Madison University. She is a member of the Acquisitions Department at Atkins Library, UNC-Charlotte.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Timberlake of Rock Hill, S. C. He is a graduate of Giles High School and Greenville Technical College. He is a Computer Operator with Family Dollar Stores, Inc.

The newlyweds will live in Charlotte, N. C.

White-Crosier

Angela Lynn Crosier and Jason Fripp White were united in marriage October 21, 1995, at the Va. Tech War Memorial Chapel in Blacksburg, Va. The Reverend Don McKinney and Father Jim Cowles officiated the double ring ceremony. A buffet reception was held in the Donaldson Brown Center. The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell White, was held at Mountain Lake Resort. A bridal luncheon shower, hosted by the bridemaids, was celebrated at the Marriott.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Crosier of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Vi rginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and is a programmer analyst for Sprint-United Telephone in Orlando, Fla. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell White of Longwood, Fla. He is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and is a hotel manager for Embassy Suites in Orlando North.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Matron of honor was Andrea Lynn Ledford, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Angie Hoogewind, Jodi Hudson, Julie Larson and Kim Lawrence, friends of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Sarah Lynn Craft, the bride's cousin. Flower girl was Alyssa Katherine Ledford, the bride's niece. Scripture reader was Brian Ledford, brother-in-law of the bride. The guest book was attended by Susan Crosier and Jennifer Mann, cousins of the bride.

The best man was Todd Russell White, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Tom Cramer, Brett Fox, Mike Krot, Rob Spence and Brian Stark, friends of the groom. Ring bearer was Jonathan Cronin, cousin of the groom. After a honeymoon cruise in the Virgin Islands, the couple will make their home in Orlando, Fla.

Woods-Nelson

Laura Lee Nelson and Patrick Hamilton Woods were married Saturday, October 21, 1995, at Melrose Baptist Church in Roanoke at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Larry E. Sprouse officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Nelson of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Northside High School and Radford University and is employed by the Advance Auto Corporate Office in Roanoke.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman O. Woods of Troutville. He is a graduate of Lord Botetourt High School and Radford University and is employed by First Virginia Bank in Roanoke.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a flowing gown of encore satin trimmed with alencon lace and featuring a V-neckline with a petite bow in back of skirt. The basque bodice featuring short puff sleeves adorned with embr oidered lace, was accented with iridescent sequins and pearls over alencon lace ending in a peak with tear drop pearls. A pouf fingertip veil accented with pearls, attached to an embroidered lace and pearl embellished headpiece. She carried a cascading bouquet of star gazer lilies, bridal roses and stephanotis.

Friend of the bride, Stacy Harris of Roanoke, served a matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Ruthanne Heiler of Roanoke, sister of the groom; Jodie Harris of Cloverdale, sister of the groom; and Joy Breneman of Blacksburg, friend of the bride.

The best man was Norman Woods, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Michael Heiler of Roanoke, brother-in-law of the groom; Andrew Harris of Cloverdale, brother-in-law of the groom; and Jeffrey Nelson of Princeton, W. Va., brother of the bride.

Caitlin Powell of Roanoke, friend of the bride, served as flowergirl. The guestbook was attended by Lori Martin of Hopewell, Va., friend of the bride.

Wedding music was provided by Sharon Mundy, organist, and Judy Hartman, soloist. A reception followed in the church fellowship hall. Jim Powell of Roanoke provided music for the reception and videography for the wedding. Barbara Cochran of Salem directed the wedding and reception and photography was by Barry Brooks of Vinton.

Following a honeymoon to Disney World, the couple will make their home in Roanoke.
