A former pupil at the Floyd County school, Delozier teaches fourth grade, her husband teaches sixth and seventh grades and her daughter, Meghan, 7, attends school there.
Plus, Delozier said, she sees her pupils at church, on the sandlot and in the grocery store.
"This is a very close-knit community where you get to know the children individually," she said. "This helps me be a better teacher, because if you don't know your children, you can't do your Job."
Delozier says many times her former pupils return to her classroom looking for academic help or someone to lend an ear. "Sometimes they still need help. I'm honored they'd come back," she said.
"Mrs. Delozier makes me feel that there is nothing out there that I can't accomplish if I try," said the pupil who nominated her. "She really knows how to boost my spirit and make me feel that I am someone important."
An educator for 18 years, Delozier says she most enjoys teaching science. She is active in her church and enjoys cross-stitch and reading.
