Coors

Adolph Coors Co., Golden, Colo., brewer operating a bottling and distribution plant in Rockingham County, reported net income of $22.6 million, or 59 cents per share, on sales of $567.9 million for its third quarter ended Oct. 1, compared with year-earlier $17.3 million, or 45 cents per share, on sales of $555.6 million.

Coca-Cola Bottling

Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, Charlotte, N.C., parent of Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Roanoke, reported third-quarter net income of $4.6 million, or 50 cents per share, on sales of $203.6 million, compared with year-earlier $4.9 million, or 53 cents, on sales of $188.4 million. For nine months, net income was $145.7 million, or $1.58 per share, on sales of $582.4 million, compared with year-earlier $10.9 million, or $1.17 per share, on sales of $552.9 million.

Corning

Corning Inc., the Corning, N.Y., parent of a Christiansburg plant making ceramic parts for catalytic converters, reported third-quarter net income of $83 million, or 37 cents per share, on sales of $1.56 billion, compared with year-earlier $76.9 million, or 36 cents per share, on sales of $1.44 billion. For nine months, the net loss was $134 million, equal to 60 cents per share, on sales of $4 billion, compared with $246 million, or $1.18 per share, on sales of $3.5 billion.

CorVel

CorVel Corp., Irvine, Calif., provider of medical cost containment and managed-care services with operations in Roanoke, Rocky Mount and Wytheville, reported net income of $1.8 million, or 39 cents per share, on revenue of $26.9 million for its second quarter ended Sept. 30, compared with year-earlier $1.4 million, or 31 cents per share, on revenue of $22.9 million. For the first half, net income was $3.5 million, or 76 cents per share, on revenue of $53.6 million, compared with $2.7 million, or 61 cents per share, on revenue of $45 million.

Dominion Resources

Dominion Resources Inc., Richmond-based parent of Virginia Power, reported third-quarter net income of $197.9 million, or $1.14 per share, on revenues of $1.35 billion, compared with year-earlier $161.3 million, or 94 cents, on revenues of $1.21 billion. For nine months, net income was $384.5 million, or $2.22 per share, on revenues of $3.52 billion, compared with $438.9 million, or $2.59 per share, on revenues of $3.49 billion.

Eastman Kodak

Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, N.Y., parent of Qualex Inc. of Roanoke, reported third-quarter net income of $338 million, or 99 cents per share, on sales of $3.87 billion, compared with year-earlier $193 million, or 57 cents, on sales of $3.53 billion.

ETS International

ETS International Inc. of Roanoke reported a loss of $203,246 for its first quarter ended Aug. 31, compared with income of $144,923 for the same period last year. Revenues totaled $5 million vs. $4.4 million last year. Chairman John McKenna attributed the loss to a gap between completion of major construction contracts and the delay in receiving authorization for start-up of newly awarded contracts. Based on the present backlog, he said, the second quarter should be profitable. He also said ETS is considering several candidates for acquisition.

Fieldcrest Cannon

Fieldcrest Cannon Inc., Eden, N.C.-based textile maker operating a towel mill in Henry County, reported a third-quarter net loss of $15,000, equal to 13 cents per share, on sales of $280.5 million, compared with year-earlier net earnings of $8.5 million, or 68 cents per share, on sales of $279.3 million. For nine months, net income was $2 million, equal to a loss of 15 cents per share, on sales of $810.6 million, compared with year-earlier net income of $20.7 million, or $1.99 per share, on sales of $766.4 million.

Flowers Industries

Flowers Industries Inc., a Thomasville, Ga., baker with retail and distribution facilities in Roanoke, reported net income of $7.9 million, or 21 cents per share, on sales of $269.7 million for its first quarter ended Sept. 23, compared with year-earlier $6.2 million, or 17 cents per share, on sales of $233.5 million.

Hershey Foods

Hershey Foods Corp., Hershey, Pa., operator of a chocolate plant at Stuarts Draft and a pasta plant at Winchester, reported net income of $82.1 million, or $1.02 per share, on sales of $981.1 million for its third quarter ended Oct. 1, compared with year-earlier $81.1 million, or 93 cents per share, on sales of $966.5 million. For nine months, net income was $176.1 million, or $2.08 per share, on sales of $2.57 billion compared with year-earlier $159.4 million, or $1.83 per share, on sales of $2.53 billion.

Home Shopping

Home Shopping Network Inc., St. Petersburg, Fla.-based television retailer with an order-filing warehouse in Salem, reported a third-quarter net loss of $17.7 million, equal to 20 cents per share, on sales of $239.9 million, compared with year-earlier net income of $6.4 million, or 7 cents per share, on sales of $276.6 million. For nine months, the net loss was $36.2 million, equal to 41 cents per share, on sales of $730.2 million, compared with year-earlier net income of $14.9 million, or 17 cents per share, on sales of $824.8 million.

Hubbell

Hubbell Inc., an Orange, Conn., maker of industrial wiring and controls with a plant in Christiansburg, reported third-quarter net income of $31.7 million, or 95 cents per share, on sales of $286.9 million, compared with year-earlier $27.3 million, or 82 cents, on sales of $267.5 million. For nine months, net income was $90.2 million, or $2.70 per share, on sales of $860.4 million, compared with year-earlier $78.1 million, or $2.34 per share, on sales of $736.5 million.

Modine

Modine Manufacturing Co., Racine, Wis., maker of heating and ventilation equipment with operations in Buena Vista, reported net earnings of $16.7 million, or 55 cents per share, on sales of $254.3 million for its second quarter ended Sept. 26, compared with year-earlier $16.8 million, or 55 cents per share, on sales of $221.8 million. For six months, net earnings were $32.7 million, or $1.07 per share, on sales of $493.5 million, compared with year-earlier $31.6 million, or $1.04 per share, on sales of $430.2 million.

Noland

Noland Co., Newport News-based distributor of equipment to the building trades with operations in Roanoke, reported third-quarter net income of $1.3 million, or 36 cents per share, on sales of $120.7 million, compared with year-earlier $1.5 million, or 39 cents per share, on sales of $116.9 million. For nine months, net income was $4.3 million, or $1.17 per share, on sales of $356 million, compared with year-earlier $3.3 million, or 89 cents per share, on sales of $329.9 million.

Scott & Stringfellow

Scott & Stringfellow Financial Inc., Richmond financial services company operating stock brokerage offices in Western Virginia, reported first-quarter net income of $1.2 million, or 57 cents per share, on revenues of $17.7 million, compared with year earlier $589,000, or 28 cents, on revenues of $12.8 million.

Stein Mart

Stein Mart Inc., Jacksonville, Fla., retailer with a store in Roanoke County, reported third-quarter net income of $1.6 million, or 7 cents per share, on sales of $108.2 million, compared with year-earlier $1.9 million, or 8 cents, on sales of $90.7 million. For nine months, net income was $5.5 million, or 24 cents, on sales of $312.5 million, compared with year-earlier $7.1 million, or 30 cents, on sales of $267.8 million.

VF Corp.

VF Corp., Wyomissing, Pa., parent of Bassett-Walker Inc. of Martinsville, reported third-quarter net income of $69.7 million, or $1.08 per share, on revenues of $1.33 billion, compared with year-earlier $87.8 million, or $1.34 per share, on revenue of $1.37 billion. For nine months, net income was $192.9 million, or $2.98 per share, on revenue of $3.79 billion, compared with $199.6 million, or $3.05, on revenue of $3.68 billion.
