BASHAM, Mary Lena Thurman, 88, of Rocky Mount, died Monday, October 23, 1995 at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Born December 6, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Alizah Jane Thurman. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dewey Basham, a granddaughter, Sharon Basham, and a son-in-law, Roy C. Perdue. Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Hulon and Nellie Basham, Moneta, Bud Basham and Dempsey Basham, both of Hardy; one daughter, Bonnie J. GRAHAM, Margaret, (``Mrs. Robert M. Sr.""), 94, of Flint, Mich., formerly of Weyanoke, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, October 21, 1995. She was born on February 2, 1901, to the late Edd and Linda Bare in Pocahontas. In 1919, she married Robert Graham and moved to West Virginia, where they raised their family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Graham Sr.; son, Robert Graham Jr.; and daughter, Ruth Graham. Mrs. Graham had been a member of Bailey Memorial Baptist Church in Giatto, W.Va. for many years. She is survived by five daughter s and sons-in-law, Peggy and Edward Vickers, Sarah and Edward White, Shirley and Glen Fitzpatrick, all of Flint, Mich., Patricia and Rudolph Warden of Pulaski, Betty and Clayton J. HARMON, Annie St.Clari, 78, of Elkton, Md. died Saturday evening October 21, 1995 at Medpointe in Elkton. Born in Bland Co., she was a daughter of the late James H. and Daisy Mitchell Burton. Annie also lived in the Bear Spring area of Giles Co., and was employed at the Tultex factory in Bastian, Va. She loved to sew and visit with family and friends, and was preceded in death by a son Scott Jr. (Bud) Harmon. Surviving are six sons Wade Harmon, Rod Harmon, Bobby Harmon, Buck Harmon, Bill Harmon, and Emery Harmon all of Elkton; four daughters Pearlie Blandenship of Bland, Marie Rogers of Elkton, Ethel Cox of Bland, Shirley Medley of Pembroke, and Dwighty McMillan of Elkton; one brother Clifford Burton of Akron, Ohio; 44 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren. KEITH, Virgie I., Dr., 73, of Radford, died Sunday, October 22, 1995, at her residence. She was born August 28, 1922, in Willis, the daughter of the late Greene T. and Ocie A. Keith. She received her B.S. degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, Ind., her M.S. degree from VPI &SU, Blacksburg, and her Ed. degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She was a former teacher of mathematics at Blacksburg and Radford High Schools. She was a mathematics and science supervisor in the Pulaski County school system. She was adjunct instructor at VPI &SU, the University of Virginia and New River Community College. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma. Also a member of the Pulaski County, District M., and the Virginia Retired Teachers Associations. She was a member of the Christiansburg Wesleyan Church, serving in many capacities in the local and state Wesleyan churches. She was selected at a distinguished alumnus of Indiana Wesleyan University, and was selected as an outstanding alumnus of Radford High School. She was given the special ``Honoring our Own"" award by Alpha Lambda Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma. Her biography appeared in the World's Who's Who of Women, Who's Who of American Women, Outstanding Educations of America, Who's Who in Virginia, the International Who's Who of Intellectuals, and Personalities of the South. She had been recently elected president of the Virginia District M Retired Teachers Association. Surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. David Hurd officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens. Mrs. VanLew was born in Lynchburg, Va., a daughter of William Louis and Katherine Henson White and was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Pleasant Garden. Surviving are a daughter Katherine Louise Vandegrift; and a son John VanLew, III; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted 3 pm, Tuesday in the Fair View Cemetery in Roanoke, Va. by Chaplain Stimp Hawkins. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Forsyth, 1100 S. Stratford Rd., 27103 Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville is serving the VanLew family.
