CARRICO, James Roy, 80, of Fieldale, died Wednesday, October 25, 1995. Arrangements by Norris Funeral Home, Martinsville.

CLIFTON, Ruth Cochran, 92, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, October 25, 1995, in a Roanoke hospital. She had been a school teacher and was a member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Taylor Clifton, a son and daughter-in-law, Jewell D. and Audrey Clifton. She is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws, Marvin G. and Marjorie Clifton of Roanoke, Elbert A. and Mary Ellen Clifton of Ferrum, Elisha B. Clifton of Florida; two daughters and son-in-laws, Iva and Quentin Stilwell of Roanoke, Rhoda and Curtis Kemp of Salem; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 27, 1995 at 12 noon at the Lotz Salem Chapel with Elder Thomas Mann officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Lotz Salem Chapel.

COOK, Melville Joseph, 79, of Roanoke, died Wednesday in a Salem hospital. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne M. and Victor Ingraham, Roanoke. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 27, 1995, at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Burial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Salem Chapel.

FERGUSON, Martha L., 67, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 1995, at her residence. She was a retired teacher from Roanoke City Schools with 27 years service. She was a Charter Member and Deacon at Rosalind Hills Baptist Church, where she was also the Church Pianist for 40 years. Surviving are her husband, Gene W. Ferguson; two sons, Ross Ferguson, Roanoke, Bob Ferguson, Atlanta; two daughters, Anne Ferguson Bihl, Harrisburg, Penn., Nancy Ferguson LeHardy, Roanoke; two sons-in-law, Edward Bihl and Marcel LeHardy; eight grandchildren; a brother, James C. Lester, Roanoke; and numerous loving relatives and friends. A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday from Rosalind Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom F. Stocks and the Rev. Carol Johnston officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Music Department of Rosalind Hills Baptist Church, 2711 Laburnum Ave., S.W., Roanoke, Va. 24015, for replacement of the sanctuary piano. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

PARKER, Ida Jane Leftwich, 90, passed away in a local nursing home on Saturday, October 21, 1995. She was the widow of Nelson Parker. She was also preceded in death by two sons. She was a member of High Street Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Jean Leftwich Barnett; one son-in-law, Bobby Barnett; two daughters-in-law, Pearlie Marie Leftwich and Mary Leftwich; three sisters, Estelle Craghead, Rosa Jones and Dorothy Jones; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a special devoted and caring granddaughter-in-law, Rita Leftwich; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Memorial Park. Dr. Noel C. Taylor will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.

PUGH, Esteleen McDaniel, 63, of Buena Vista, died Tuesday, October 24, 1995, at Oak Hill Health Care Center in Staunton. She was born October 27, 1931, in Craig County, daughter of the late Bernie McDaniel and Lillian Tripp McDaniel. She was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Pugh Sr. Surviving are one son, Robert F. Pugh Jr. of Midlothian; one daughter, Deborah Pugh Patterson of Staunton; one brother, J. D. McDaniel of Buena Vista, and two grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens (Route 60 East, Lexington), with the Rev. Herbert Lewis officiating and music by Paula Homes. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Service in Buena Vista. STAFFORD, Ellery Donaldson, 88, of Christiansburg, died Monday evening, October 23, 1995, in a Salem hospital. Born on April 7, 1907, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby S. Stafford, and is survived by two sons, David Stafford of Stafford and Jonathan Stafford of Woodlands, Texas; a sister, Leatrice Hillegass of Arlington; four grandchildren, Scott, Stephanie, Eric and Steven Stafford, and daughters-in-law, Gail and Karen Stafford. Mr. Stafford was born at Trigg, and was graduated from high school in Eggleston. He was a graduate of the National School of Art in Washington, D.C., and Columbia Technical Institute in Washington. He was a veteran of World War II, and an emp loyee of the Roanoke Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 27 years and manager of the Christiansburg warehouse operation. He had served as an Elder in the Church of Christ for 24 years. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday from the Christiansburg Church of Christ, conducted my Mr. Tom Hodge, Mr. Larry Phillips and Mrs. Fred Bailey. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Friends may call any time Thursday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends there from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

He was preceded in death by his wife, India H. Wassum. He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Marie Wassum, Sugar Grove, Richard and Eleanor Wassum, Independence, Charles and Norma Wassum, Salem, Ed and Becky Wassum, Lexington, N.C.; a daughter, Saundra Wassum of the home; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Harrison and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel with burial at the Hartman Family Cemetery.
