Climbing crank

The Third Annual Star City Climbing Crank will take place Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. each day, at Rocwood Wall, Roanoke.

This national competition is divided into categories according to age, gender and skill level. Registration is now being accepted at Roanoke City Parks and Recreation and at the Rocwood Wall on the day of the event.

Registration fees are $25, $20 in advance for the junior division and $30, $25 advance for other divisions.

Rocwood Wall is located at Roanoke City Parks and Recreation, 210 Reserve Ave.

ZooBoo Downtown

ZooBoo Downtown, a fund-raiser for a new snow leopard exhibit at Mill Mountain Zoo, will be held Saturday from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., at The Iroquois Club, Roanoke.

Featured bands at Us Ain't Nermal, The Hose, Red Weather and Straub.

Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door. Eighty percent of the ticket sales will be donated to the fund. Confeddy's restaurant is selling snow leopard cut-outs and Ward's Cafe is donating $1 for each person in attendance at their establishment to the fund.

The event is sponsored by radio station K92 and The Iroquois Club.
