Roanoke residents pass Virginia Bar

Several Roanoke Valley residents are among the 870 people who passed the July 1995 Virginia Bar Examination.

Roanoke-area residents who have passed are: John Alexander Boone, Kimberly Ann Crowder, Thomas Weaver Erwin, Scott Ronald Geddes, Gina Marie Giacinto, Amy Lee Hansen, Stephen Brett Hebblethwaite, Mollie Thorn James, William Hubert Kennedy Jr., Michael Burnett Massey, Jason Guy Moyers, George Forman Taylor III, Paul Rice Thomson III, all of Roanoke.

Leaf collection begins in valley

Leaf collection in Roanoke, Vinton and Roanoke County begins this week.

Roanoke: Roanoke city workers will collect bagged leaves along with regular trash collection beginning Monday through Dec. 15. Residents are asked not to mix leaves and trash in the same bags and to leave six feet between leaf and trash bags. Vacuum leaf collection begins Nov. 13. A map will appear in the Nov. 2 Neighbors section detailing pickup zones and dates. For more information on bagged leaf pickup call 981-1588. For information on vacuum leaf pickup call 981-1269.

Roanoke County: Bagged leaves will be collected weekly on the same day as regular trash collection beginning Monday through Dec. 15. Other material may be scheduled for a separate collection by calling 387-6999.

Vinton: The town will hold two leaf collections in each zone. All leaves should be raked to the back of the curb or shoulder of roadway in front of the residence or in the alley where trash is usually collected by 7:30 a.m. on the first day of leaf collection in the zone.

Residents living in zones 1 and 2 (whose trash is collected on Monday or Tuesday) will have leaves collected Monday through Nov. 8 and again Nov. 20-28. Residents living in zones 3 and 4 (whose trash is collected Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) will have leaves collected Nov. 9-17 and Nov. 30-Dec. 7.

Bagged leaves will be collected weekly on the regular trash collection day.
