Liberty (14-4 overall, 14-4 district) outscored Amherst (13-5, 13-5) 21-11 in the fourth quarter.
Felicia Miller scored 11 of her game high 23 in the final period and grabbed 10 rebounds during the game. Sue Cowlbeck added 10 points and 10 rebounds, Charity Bryant had 12 points and eight rebounds and Laura Rodriguez scored six points and had nine assists.
The Lancers were led by Erin Johannes who scored 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Alleghany 73, Rockbridge County 62: Alleghany's Katie Craft and Rockbridge County's Kate Ides engaged in a shootout, but Craft had more help from her supporting cast as the Mountaineers won a Blue Ridge District game in Lexington.
Craft finished with a game-high 35 points, including five 3-pointers. She scored 26 of her points and hit three of her 3-pointers in the first half. Teammate Natasha Chapman had 13 of her 18 in the first half as the duo scored 39 of Alleghany's 47 first-half points.
Ides, a freshman, scored a career-high 27 points, with 14 of those coming in the first half. She made 12 of 14 shots from the floor. The Wildcats (3-13, 1-7), who cut the Alleghany lead to 10 in the fourth quarter, but could get no closer, also got 16 points from senior Natalie Wallace.
Laurel Park 54, Tunstall 50: The Lancers (9-9,9-7) used a fourth-quarter rally to hold off the Trojans in a Piedmont District contest in Martinsville.
Tunstall took the lead early in the fourth quarter 43-42, but Toy Perkins stepped up for the Lancers, scoring seven of her 14 points in the closing moments of the game. Brandy Martin scored 13 points and Tonya Martin added 10 for Laurel Park.
Melissa Dixon scored a game-high 21 points for the Trojans, 10 of those in the fourth quarter.
Fort Chiswell 56, Grayson County 48: Kristen Harmon and Amber Gunter each scored six points in the fourth quarter and Tasha Smith added five in the period as the Pioneers downed the Blue Devils in a Mountain Empire District game in Independence.
Harmon finished with a team-high 16 points. Gunter added 11 and Smith 14 for Fort Chiswell (4-11, 4-3).
Lindsey Carico had a game-high 24 points and 16 rebounds for Grayson County (3-16, 3-5).
Parry McCluer 52, Covington 44: The Fighting Blues used accurate free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter to outlast the Cougars in a Pioneer District game in Covington.
Parry McCluer made 12 of 18 free throws in the final period. Lindsey Coleman, who scored nine points, made four of five and Chrystal Humphries was 4-of-6 to lead the Fighting Blues. Humphries finished with 21 points, including 12 in the second half.
Covington (9-10, 6-5) was led by Joann Helton, who scored a game-high 29 points, including three 3-pointers. Helton and Michelle Jeter combined to score 38 of Covington's 44 points.
Fieldale-Collinsville 64, Dan River 34: The Cavaliers (13-3,14-5) used a 26-point first quarter to cruise to a Piedmont District victory over the Wildcats in Ringgold.
T.J. Hayes lead the way for Fieldale-Collinsville (14-5, 13-3) with a game-high 18 points. Yvonne Hall added 14 points for Fieldale Collinsville.
Samantha Markham lead the way for Dan River(0-19,0-16) with 13 points.
Martinsville 61, Bassett 43: The Bulldogs' zone press paid off in turnovers during the fourth quarter to lead Martinsville to a Piedmont District victory over the Bengals in Martinsville.
The Bulldogs (15-4, 13-3) were led by Erica Brandon and Tresita Holland, scoring 23 and 19, respectively. Holland had 10 in the fourth and pulled down 10 rebounds for the game.
Heather Miller led Bassett with 19 points.
Shawsville 58, Giles 47: Freshman Megan Forster scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Shawnees (10-8, 2-4) to a Three Rivers District victory over the Spartans in Shawsville.
The Shawnees used their full-court press to force 30 turnovers. Shawsville made its move in the second quarter, outscoring Giles 17-8 behind Forster's nine points. Mandi Forster added 10 points and six steals and Beth Burdette scored 11 points for Shawsville.
Keeli Whetzel led Giles (7-11, 0-7) with 13 points.
Narrows 77, Rocky Gap 44: The Green Wave outscored the Eagles by 21 points in the second half, adding to a 12-point lead, as Narrows rolled to a home-court victory in the Mountain Empire District.
Suzanne Webb recorded her first triple-double for the Green Wave, racking up a game-high 29 points to go with her 11 rebounds and 10 steals. The junior sat out the fourth quarter after Narrows had put the game out of reach.
Melissa Lawrence, the Timesland assists leader, had 13 to go with her seven points for the Green Wave.
Amanda Clark led Rocky Gap with 14 points. Melissa Leedy added a dozen.
Patrick County 51, Magna Vista 38: The Cougars overcame a two-point second quarter to pull away from the Warriors in a Piedmont District game in Ridgeway.
Amy Nelson scored six of her game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter as she eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her Patrick County career. Holly Weber added eight of her 16 in the fourth quarter as the Cougars (13-6, 12-4) broke it open by outscoring the Warriors 21-8 in the final period.
Magna Vista (11-8, 10-6) was led by Tanesia Kellam, who scored 16 points.
Staunton River 67, Buckingham County 22: Beth Davis scored 16 of her game-high 18 points in the first half as the Golden Eagles took a 22-point halftime lead and rolled to a Seminole District victory in Moneta.
Stephanie McCarty added 11 points and seven rebounds for Staunton River (12-6, 12-6).
Buckingham County is 0-18, 0-18.
Glenvar 54, Bath County 38: The Chargers outscored the Highlanders 28-23 in the second half, but it was too little, too late, as Glenvar remained perfect in a Pioneer District in Hot Springs.
Glenvar (12-6, 9-0) held Bath County (6-10, 5-4) to 10 points in the first half, two in the first quarter.
Erika Hale led the Highlanders with a game-high 19 points.
Jennifer Adams was the leading scorer for Bath County, with 10 points.
Galax 63, Bland 26: The Maroon Tide took an early lead and cruised to a Mountain Empire District victory over the Rockets in Galax.
The Maroon Tide (17-0, 7-0) used a full-court press in the first half to build a 37-16 lead. The game's leading scorer was Tammy Cox of Galax, with 21 points, and she added five steals.
Winless Bland was led by Jennifer Winters and Pachess Umberger, who scored 10 points each.
