BOTETOURT KNOCKS OFF NORTHSIDE

Strong second and fourth quarters by Lord Botetourt were the difference in a 59-44 Blue Ridge District victory over Northside on Thursday night on the Vikings' floor.

The Cavaliers (17-2 overall, 6-2 district) outscored Northside (8-11, 2-6) by 17 points in those quarters.

Sarah Hicks, who led Botetourt with 19 points, got into foul trouble in the second period, but was picked up by the play of Jessica Davidson and Aimee Bird, who combined for nine points in her absence.

Northside was led by sophomore Samantha Webb with 14 points.

Glenvar 54, Bath County 38: The Chargers outscored the Highlanders 28-23 in the second half, but it was too little, too late, as Glenvar remained perfect in a Pioneer District game in Hot Springs.

Glenvar (12-6, 9-0) held Bath County (6-10, 5-4) to 10 points in the first half, two in the first quarter.

Erika Hale led the Highlanders with a game-high 19 points and Amy Layman chipped in 12.

Jennifer Adams was the leading scorer for Bath County, with 10 points.
