Brad Ragan Inc., a Charlotte, N.C.-based producer of retreaded tires for off-highway vehicles and a tire retailer with outlets in the Roanoke Valley, reported second-quarter net income of $801,000, or 37 cents per share, on revenues of $67 million, compared with year-earlier $1.5 million, or 65 cents, on revenues of $67 million. For six months, net income was $2.2 million, or $1 per share, on revenues of $189.8 million, compared with year-earlier $3.9 million, or $1.69, on revenues of $185.7 million.
Intermet
Intermet Corp., Atlanta parent of the Radford Shell Plant - formerly Lynchburg Foundry - and the New River Casting facility, also in Radford, reported third-quarter net income of $3.4 million, or 14 cents per share, on sales of $117.3 million, compared with year-earlier $373,000, or 2 cents, on sales of $121 million. For nine months, net income was $19.4 million, or 78 cents per share, on sales of $419.6 million, compared with $4.5 million, or 18 cents, on sales of $364.5 million.
Ruddick Corp.
Ruddick Corp., Charlotte, N.C. parent of Harris Teeter supermarkets, reported net income of $39.3 million, or 84 cents per share, on sales of $2.07 billion for its fiscal year, compared with year-earlier $31.8 million, or 67 cents per share, on sales of $1.91 billion. Fourth-quarter net income was $9.4 million, or 20 cents per share, on sales of $526.8 million, compared with $8.9 million, or 19 cents, on sales of $491.4 million.
