Faculty authors Rita Ciresi, R.H.W. Dillard, Cathryn Hankla, Jeanne Larsen, Marilyn Moriarty, Eric Trethewey and Phillip Welch take part in the fourth annual Writers Harvest: The National Reading, a nationwide literary effort to fight hunger. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for everyone else. All funds go directly to the Roanoke Area Food Bank. Sponsored by American Express.

Cleopatra Mathis, professor of English, director of the creative writing program at Dartmouth College and author of "Aerial View of Louisiana," "The Bottom Land" and "The Center for Cold Weather" will read from her work. Admission free.

Nov. 9, 8:15 pm; Green Drawing Room, Main Building, Hollins College.

Hollins alumnae Lee Smith, Elizabeth Seydel Morgan and Susie Mee will read from their work included in the book, "Downhome: An Anthology of Southern Women Writers." Admission free. Reception and booksigning follows.
