The Star beat the Charlottesville Express 10-1, the Richmond Capitols 5-2 and Vista Team America 2-1 to advance to the semifinal round Saturday against the Braddock Road Phoenix in Richmond. The Springfield Force will meet the Vista Magic in the other semifinal.
Mark Levan had four goals and Mark Wise and Brian Sharp had two each to lead the Star offense. Tait Duus and Patrick Barritt anchored the defense.
The Star U-18 Red team finished second in its group, beating FC Beach 3-2 and the Pocoshock Panthers 3-0 and falling 1-0 to the Springfield Force. Jamie Miller led the offense with five goals, and Hunter Balmer stood out in goal.

In the senior development division, Zach Cromer won the 100 butterfly in a time of 1 minute, 1.94 seconds with teammate Alex Seamon second. Jonas Baranauskas won the 200 breast stroke in this division in a time of 2:39.34.
In the senior circuit division, Steve Cromer won the 400 individual medley and the 500 freestyle in times of 4:21.72 and 4:56.29, respectively, to go with a third-place finish in the 200 backstroke. Doug Hartman finished third in the 200 breast stroke and the team of Hartman, Steve Cromer, Harry Kessler and Vince Baranauskas came in third in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 8:04.93.
On the girls' side, Mandy Lippitt won the 400 IM in a time of 4:45.63, with teammate Blair Huffman finishing second. Huffman, who came in third in the 200 breast stroke, teamed with Lippitt, Lana Thompson and Laura Dichtel to win the 800 freestyle relay in 8:20.93.
