TEEN ARRESTED ON GUN CHARGE

A Roanoke County police officer arrested a 15-year-old boy at a Cave Spring High School football game Friday night after finding drugs and a weapon on him.

About 9 Friday, Officer John Hoover found a BB gun and what was thought to be LSD on a Cave Spring High School sophomore, according to Sgt. D.C. Wells. Police did not have details of how the arrest was made. The teen-ager is expected to be petitioned to Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on gun and drug charges.

Cave Spring High School Principal Martha Cobble said that under school regulations she must recommend that the boy be expelled. If that is approved by the School Board, the parents will need to find an alternative means of education, she said.

"I hope this sends a positive message that, first, we're working with authorities to bring about an early detection" of a problem, Cobble said. "That we're working on a team that includes parents. And that accountability is a must."
