APPLAUSE

Local residents got some exercise and raised money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association at the same time recently. MDA supporters gathered at Green Hill Park in Salem for the 1995 MDA Great Walk and generated funds to help purchase wheelchairs, provide monthly medical clinics, run a summer youth camp and underwrite worldwide research. Tracie McKenney, program services coordinator for MDA, said the organization really appreciated Cory Everson's willingness to provide gift certificates valued at $1,067. She said people should remember that all donations are tax deductible.

Honk the next time you see a Hog because Harley-Davidson owners who are members of the statewide Harley Owners Group raised $4,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association at their recent rally held in Roanoke. Harley owners tried their luck at casino tables and later bid for items at a charity auction.
