Composer's birthday

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech's music department presents a concert to honor the 100th birthday of composer Paul Hindemith.

The concert is Monday, Nov. 6, at 8 p.m., in the Virginia Tech's Squires Student Center recital hall. General admission is $3.

Play at Va. Tech

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech's University Theatre will present "He Who Gets Slapped," by Leonid Andreyev today through Sunday, and Tuesday, Nov. 7, through Saturday, Nov. 11.

The play is about a professor who quits his job to become a circus clown. But no one understands him, causing him to be slapped often.

Andreyev was an early 20th century Russian playwright. The play is directed by Andrew W. Belser, a third-year master of fine arts student at Tech.

Tickets are $8 for the general public and $6 for students and seniors. Performances are at 8 p.m. except a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Nov. 5.
