ALIFF, Norton Eugene, (``Gene''), 75, of Penhook, died Friday, November 3, 1995. He was retired with 371/2 years service at General Electric and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Aliff was a member of Penhook United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Shelby Jean Aliff; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Jamie Aliff, Charlotte, N.C., Paul and Sherry Aliff, Arcadia; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Gary Jones, Henry County, Leslie and Sonnia Jones, Rocky Mount, Ricky and Rhonda Jones, Rocky Mount; brothers and sisters, Allen Aliff, Irene and Bill Ames, Ruby Dame, Kathleen Martin, all of Roanoke; five grandchildren; one stepgrandchild. Funeral services will be at Oakey's South Chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, November 6, 1995. The Rev. Betty Daniels-Marshall and the Rev. Roy S. Whitescarver will officiate. BOLT, Oka Dickerson, 86, of Willis, died Thursday, November 2, 1995 in Skyline Manor Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Addison Bolt. Surviving are four sons, Hugh Bolt, Prince Frederick, Md., Harold Bolt, Roanoke, J. E. Bolt, Willis, and Al Bolt, Burke, Va.; one daughter, Helen Chun, Pittsburgh, PA.; three sisters, Rittie Weddle, Ida Vaughn, both of Woodlawn, Alice Quesenberry, Dugspur; one brother, Elmo Dickerson, LaPlata, Md.; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. S. G. Bolt officiating. Burial will follow in the Mabery Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.

BROWN, Russ Leroy, 62, of Galax, died Wednesday, November 1, 1995. Funeral 1 p.m. Sunday, Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel.

CLAPP, Mary G. Dean, 82, of Chilhowie, died Thursday, November 2,1995 at the CGH Medical Center, Sterling, Illinois. She was the widow of George Raymond Clapp and a member of the Cleghorn Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Louis (Barbara) Clapp, Rock Falls, Ill., Bob (Sheryl) Clapp, Sterling, Ill.., Randy Clapp, Harvard, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Patsy McThenia and Mrs. Arlyn (Rita) Lawrence, both of Rock Falls, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Elsworth (Louise) Johnson, Winston-Salem, N.C., Mrs. Louisa Blevins, Rock Falls, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Clapp was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Frankie Billings Dean, one son, Jack Clapp, one daughter, Peggy Clapp, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Cleghorn Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles E. Blevins officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Fork Cemetery. CLEMMONS, Gary Allen, 44, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Covington, died Wednesday, November 1, 1995. Funeral today at 2 p.m. from the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel, Covington.

DeHART, Walter Lee, 56, of Roanoke County, died Thursday, November 2, 1995. He was a masonry supervisor for VPI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Tipton and Nellie B. DeHart; a brother, George R. (Bay) DeHart; a daughter, Dana Marie DeHart. He is survived by his wife, Alma Epperly DeHart; a special son, Walter Lee DeHart Jr.; a special daughter and special son-in-law, Carla J. and Glen T. Garman; a precious granddaughter, Kristin Nicole Garman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack L. and Sylvia DeHart, Donald L. and Kathy DeHart; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris M. and Lynwood (Bussy) Epperly, Betty and Billy Pence; sister-in-law, Evelyn D. Harris; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby and Jody LaPrad; special mother-in-law, May Epperly. DUNCAN, Levi Edward, (``Ed''), 81, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, November 3, 1995. He retired after 55 years of service with Harris Hardwood. Following his retirement, he worked as a security guard with Lewis-Gale Hospital and Medeco Lock. In his last days, he was lovingly cared for by his number 3 daughter, Thelma Motley and her husband, James, at Sun Haven Eldercare. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Calvin (Buddy) Duncan Sr.; two sisters and one brother. Surviving are his wife, Icie J. Duncan; daughters, Maxine R. Schilling, Marie E. Shelton-Tilley and husband, Jimmy G. Tilley, all of Roanoke; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Beatrice Thomas, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. Greg Reynolds. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. FAIRFAX, Nathaniel Augusta Sr., 65, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 1995 in a local hospital. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ann Johnson Fairfax, Roanoke; four sons, Jimmy Rhodes, Nathaniel A. Fairfax Jr., Timothy S. (Tracy) Fairfax, and David V. Fairfax, all of Roanoke; three daughters, Jackie Mays, Tonie J. Crump and Lynn S. Moore, all of Roanoke; one brother, Russell (Mildred) Fairfax, Roanoke; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Carter, Cleveland, Ohio; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one aunt, Mrs. Etta Spurlock, Fincastle; five nieces; one nephew; and a host of relatives and friends. FISHER, Dorothy Elizabeth Cregger, 69, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, November 2, 1995, in Friendship Manor. She was a member of Waverly Place Baptist Church and a member of Chapter 33, Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert B. and Rowena P. Cregger; and grandson, Daniel Webster. She is survived by her husband, William J. Fisher; daughters and son-in-law, Joyce and Donald Ferguson, Stewartsville, Barbara and Douglas Benson, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Judy Webster, Franklin Co.; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack E. and Lorena Cregger, Daleville; three nieces; one nephew; grandchildren; Dana and husband, Kevin Fitzgerald, Michael, Danyel, Myra, Molly, Mattie, Dwayne, David, Denise; great-grandson, Jason. FLESHMAN, Leo Bowyer, 79, of Cloverdale, died Thursday, November 2, 1995. He and his son were partners in Fleshman's Service Center until his retirement. He was a member of Cloverdale Church of the Brethren and is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Fleshman; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Darlene Fleshman, Daleville; one granddaughter and her husband, Sherrye and Duane Burks, Roanoke; his mother-in-law, Callie Jones, Cloverdale; one nephew, Bobby Fleshman; two nieces, Eleanor Dudley and Bonnie Hodge. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 5, 1995, at 1:30 p.m. at the Rader Troutville Chapel with the Rev. Emigene Woodard and the Rev. T. G. Ayers officiating. GILMOUR, Mary Alyce Jackson Davis, 91, of Edinburgh, Scotland, passed away Thursday, November 2, 1995. She was the daughter of the late William Lee and Cora Howard Jackson of Austinville, Va. Survivors include her husband, Philip C. Gilmour, Edinburgh, Scotland; one nephew; two nieces. Funeral services and burial will be in Edinburgh, Scotland.

GOODWIN, Mary Helen, of 520 N. Market Street, Salem, passed away Thursday, November 2, 1995 in a local hospital. She was a native of Giles County, but had been a resident of Salem for most of her life. She was a graduate of Salem High School and the National Business College of Roanoke. For a few years, she was employed by Gittens Insurance Agency and later worked in the Clerk's Office of Roanoke County. She attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, where she received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree from the college and a Bachelor of Music (B.Mus) Degree from the then Conservative of Music. She did graduate work at V.P.I in Blacksburg and Columbia University in New York City. She taught in the Business Department of Andrew Lewis High School, having served as co-ordinator of the Vocational Office Training program until her retirement from teaching. She was a member of the former Salem Music Club, a charter member of Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa (a teacher's Honor Society) and of the Colonial Trails Chapter of the Colonial Dames 17th Century National Society. She was a charter member of First Evangelical Methodist Church in Salem, where she served as Treasurer and Organist for several years. She also served as Treasurer of the Salem Camp Meeting Association (an inter-denominational organizational with emphasis on Missions), and shared in the support of missionaries serving in Japan, Haiti, South America and the homeland. She was a member of Penn Forest Wesleyan Church. She is survived by the following nieces and nephews, Lois Williams Turner, Baltimore, Md., Hilda Goodwin Parsell, Newport, Va., H. M. Rieley Jr., Norfolk, Va., J. Robert Goodwin, 3rd, Salem, Va. and Barry Kirk Goodwin, Covington, Va.; and several great-nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Lotz Salem Chapel Monday, November 6, 1995 at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Greg Reynolds of Roanoke. Entombment will be in Sherwood Abbey. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm. Sunday at the Lotz Salem Chapel.

HENDERSON, Emma Jennette, 85, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, November 1, 1995 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 1995 at First Church of God, Blacksburg, with the Rev. Mark Tencher and the Rev. Ronald E. Putnam officiating. HUGHES, Myrtle Tipton, 83, of Lewisberry, Pa., formerly of Narrows, died Saturday, October 21, 1995. She was born at Radford on June 6, 1912 and was the daughter of the late James Elbert and Ocie Ola Lowman Tipton, of Barren Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband Kirk Hughes and four brothers, Guy Tipton, Earnest Tipton, Thomas Tipton, Dean Tipton, and a sister, Claire T. Riffe. She was a retired registered nurse. She is survived by two sisters, Reba Tipton Spangler Moses, Narrows, Betty T. Ufkes, Hartford City, Ind.; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in Birchlawn Abbey, Pearisburg, with the Rev. Dr. Don Clements officiating. Arrangements by Riffe's Funeral Service.

JONES, Louise Minnie, 79, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, November 3, 1995. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby and Andy Rice, Springwood, Faye and Carroll Lyle, Nancy and Ron Horn, all of Roanoke; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Leigh Jones, Vinton; brother, David Crawford, Glen Wilton; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. SHEFFLER, Vera Luella Hoewing, 91, of Roanoke, and formerly of Loraine, Ill., passed away Thursday afternoon, November 2, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra ``Jerry"" Sheffler (also of Loraine, Ill., who died in 1972); and her son, Robert Willard Sheffler (of Roanoke, who died in 1994). TURMAN, Gardner, 80, of the Virginia Veterans Center in Roanoke, and formerly of Meadows of Dan, died Thursday, November 2, 1995. He was born December 6, 1914 in Patrick County to the late Dexter Reed Turman and the late Minerva Stanley Turman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Goins Turman, who died May 5, 1982; and a brother, Golden Turman. He is survived by a sister, Lolala Epperson, Charlotte, N.C.; and a brother, Garfield Turman, Blue Ridge Nursing Home, Stuart.
