MAN SHOT IN HEAD

A young Wythe County man was shot in the head here Sunday.

Christopher Brown, in his early 20s, was taken to Wythe County Community Hospital and transferred to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was in critical condition Monday night, according to a nursing supervisor.

The Sheriff's Office arrested Ronnie Gordon, 22, of Rural Retreat on a charge of malicious wounding. Authorities said the shooting apparently occurred while both men were intoxicated and handling a 9mm handgun.
