Akzo Nobel NV, Dutch parent of Akzo Nobel Coatings Inc. of Roanoke, reported third-quarter net income of 324 million Dutch guilders, equal to $216 million, compared with year-earlier 322 million guilders, or $214.7 million. The return on sales was 9.5 percent, compared with 9 percent a year earlier. For the nine months, net income was 1.11 billion guilders, or $742 million, compared with year-earlier 891 million guilders, or $594 million.
Crown American
Crown American Realty Trust, Johnstown, Pa., operator of New River Valley Mall, reported third-quarter net income of $199,000, or 1 cent per share, on revenue of $31.6 million, compared with year-earlier $2.2 million, or 8 cents per share, on revenue of $28.7 million. For nine months, the trust reported a net loss of $13.9 million, equal to 50 cents per share, on revenue of $95.4 million, compared with year-earlier net income of $6.9 million, or 26 cents per share, on revenue of $86.3 million.
May Department Stores
May Department Stores Co., St. Louis-based parent of the Hecht's chain and Payless ShoeSource stores, reported third-quarter earnings of $135 million, or 50 cents per share, on sales of $3.08 billion, compared with year-earlier $139 million, or 51 cents per share, on sales of $2.86 billion. For nine months, earnings were $309 million, or $1.51 per share, on $8.63 billion, compared with year-earlier $381 million, or $1.47 per share, on sales of $8.01 billion.
McDermott International
McDermott International Inc., New Orleans parent of Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation and Government Groups in Lynchburg, reported second-quarter net income of $9.1 million, or 13 cents per share, on revenue of $806.8 million, compared with a year-earlier net loss of $3.3 million, equal to 10 cents per share, on revenue of $724.1 million. For six months, net income was $17.9 million, or 25 cents per share, on revenue of $1.62 billion, compared with a year-earlier net loss of $1.9 million, equal to 11 cents per share, on revenue of $1.48 billion.
Mod-U-Kraf
Mod-U-Kraf Homes Inc. of Rocky Mount reported third-quarter net income of $125,561, or 15 cents per share, on sales of $2.3 million, compared with year-earlier $139,445, or 17 cents per share, on sales of $2.6 million.
