The Virginia Health Spa Act allows health clubs to sell memberships for longer than three years if the contract contains certain provisions, including the member's right to cancel with 30 days' notice after an initial term of not more than 12 months. This provision applies only to contracts for longer than three years, including any renewal period. This point was unclear in a graphic with the Marketplace column on Wednesday's Business page.

The decision to close the Jefferson Club was not made by the board of governors in conjunction with club management as reported in a story on Wednesday's Business page. The decision was made by the management after discussions with the board.

J.B. Buckland was elected Tuesday to the at-large seat on the Giles County School Board. Because election returns were incomplete, a chart in Wednesday's newspaper was incorrect.
