RELIGION

Promise Keepers, a growing national organization that advocates family, religious and civic responsibility for men, will conduct a valleywide organizational meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church on Wadsworth Street in Radford.

Christiansburg's Holy Spirit Catholic Church will celebrate Mass today at 5 p.m. at Our Saviour Lutheran Church on Cambria Street. This week's readings will be 2 Maccabees 7:1-2, 9-14; Psalm 17:1, 5-6, 8, 15; 2 Thessalonians 2:16-35; Luke 20:27-38; Revelations 1:5a, 6b. 382-8028.

Luther Memorial Church in Pembroke will host Duane Steele, pastor of Gladesboro Lutheran Church near Hillsville, Sunday at 3 p.m. Steele, who is blind, will perform 90 minutes of music, ranging from popular to gospel to jazz to classical. The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the New River Valley, on Gladewood Road in Blacksburg, will welcome Allie M. First Baptist Church on West Street in Radford will celebrate its 124th anniversary Nov. 19 during the 11 a.m. service. The guest minister will be the Rev. Robert Spellman Jr. of Waynesboro. Music will be provided by the Young Adult Choir and the Young & Willing Choir.

Our Saviour Lutheran Church on Cambria Street in Christiansburg conducts an new informal evening worship Wednesdays at 7:30. The 45-minute service is for people who work on weekends, community newcomers, and people looking for a midweek worship opportunity. 382-2223.

JOYFUL NOISES

The Highland Gospel Singers and the Gospel Strings with special guest New Gracee and Friends in Jesus will appear at the 68th consecutive month of music at the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers building in Fairlawn today at 7 p.m. Videos are welcome. 382-4654.

The First Church of God on Roanoke Street in Blacksburg will host The Northams, from Houston, who will perform music at 7 p.m. Nov. 19.

New Hope United Methodist Church in New River will have a fall bazaar Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items will include crafts, baked goods, clothing and food. Proceeds will go to the church's building fund. 639-1470.

The Women's Ministry of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Radford will sponsor its annual Christmas bazaar Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale will include crafts, baked goods, food and other items. 731-4101.

The women of Slusser's Chapel Church in Blacksburg will hold their annual Christmas bazaar Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church on Mount Tabor Road. Cakes, pies, jellies, jams, apple butter, homemade hard candy, crafts, food and other items will be for sale. 552-4319.

Lafayette United Methodist Church will have a bazaar Nov. 18 from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. On sale will be crafts, baked goods, white-elephant items, foods and other goods.

St. Paul United Methodist Church in Christiansburg is sponsoring a money-management video series on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. The church also will conduct a six-week series on "Building Up Self-Esteem in Your Mate."

The Shawsville Lay-Ministerial Association, an interdenominational gathering of churches in the Shawsville area, will help pay utility and grocery bills and help with emergency expenses. Keith Ritchie, 268-5901.

Youths at Auburn United Methodist Church will perform house cleaning, mowing or weeding. Donations will be used to pay their expenses to a youth conference. 382-4318.

Christian Community Outreach in Radford has a food outreach on the third Thursday of November and December at 7 p.m. at the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union Hall in Fairlawn. Food boxes will be available first-come, first-served to people who meet USDA income criteria. 639-5686.
