Basketball fundraiser

Cave Spring High School's Second Annual ``Midknight Madness'' will be held Saturday at 9:30 p.m. in the school's gym.

Basketball shooting and slam dunk contests, games and entertainment will be provided by the fans, administrators, players and the media in this charity event.

A ``spotlight and smoke'' introduction of the teams will highlight the evening.

For a $2 donation plus a can of food, spectators will receive free pizza, sodas and ice cream and can participate in games, contests and drawings for thousands of dollars in prizes.

Proceeds will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House and to the Barbara Rhodes Memorial Scholarship Fund, charities chosen by the high school's boys' and girls' varsity basketball teams.

Book signing

Elizabeth Massie and Alice Leonhardt, a.k.a. author Alison Hart, will autograph books in their ``American Chills'' and ``Riding Academy'' series Nov. 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Waldenbooks Valley View Mall, Roanoke.

Massie will also autograph copies of the anthology ``Great Writers & Kids Write Spooky Stories.''
