CARROLL COUNTY MAKES

India Easter scored all six of her points from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter as Carroll County's girls' basketball team defeated Lee County 47-42 Wednesday night in Hillsville to earn its first-ever appearance in the Region IV semifinals.

The Cavaliers (16-9) made nine of 15 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Angie Farmer led Carroll County with nine points and Easter chipped in six assists and six steals.

The Cavaliers will play at Grundy tonight at 7 p.m.

Floyd County 95, Fort Chiswell 49 Julie Sowers scored a game-high 21 points as Floyd County rolled past Fort Chiswell in the quarterfinal round of the Region C tournament in Floyd.

Floyd County (19-5) advances to tonight's semifinal round where it will meet Glenvar at 8 p.m. at Lord Botetourt.

Sowers scored 15 of her 21 in the second half and hit three 3-pointers. Fort Chiswell was led by Amber Gunter, who scored 13.

Northwood 70, Parry McCluer 41: Jessica Prater scored 22 points and Jill Woodward added 20 as the Panthers (23-2) routed the Fighting Blues in a first-round Region C playoff game at John Battle.

Parry McCluer took a 22-16 lead at halftime but Northwood roared to life in the second half, outscoring the Fighting Blues 54-19.

Crystal Humphries was the lone double-digit scorer for Parry McCluer.
